-=-=-=- Brand new scanner: Help wanted... -=-=-=-

I just brought a "HP Scanjet 4370" today !

But as I'm not used to those scanning things, I'd love to have some tips and advices to help me make my debuts in this new (for me at least) world... :(

Here are my first tries:
Ferrari 001 by laurentroy Porsche by laurentroy Dark Cadillac by laurentroy
Rainy muscle by laurentroy

So all you experts, please help me !

The purpose is mainly to scan 24x36 slides and negatives (Colour and B&W)

Thanks in advance ;)

Try out vuescan ;)
The time I was shooting on film and scanning, this was one of the best software for scanning... most of the time the results where better than using the original software...

it's been a while since I used it, so it would be interesting to get you feedback as well... so that if it turns out to be not that good anymore, I won't tell anybody to use it...

I will  Not sure when I'll get time enough to install and test, but I'll try not to wait too much... ;)

first, i always scan at 3200dpi with medium sharpening, if your scanner has digital ice, a lot of people like to use that but i prefer not to. i just do some spot healing in CS2 to get rid of dust, curves and some unsharpen mask...if you have a specific question, please ask because i scan stuff all the time ;) i would be happy to help!!!

Thanks for stoping by and answering =)

I take the advice (I was scanning at 2400dpi, no sharpening).

I'll sure come back to you (as soon as I'll have checked/tested all the options in the scanning prog) for more questions. ;)

Laurent :thanks:
