Lauren, I've had a sketch of this sitting in my studio for some time and had plans to make a painting based on this. But I feel lingerie in a painting creates a sexual atmosphere. So I'd like to make a nude version of this. I stopped because I'm not sure how you feel about that. If possible please let me know if it's OK to use your work for reference, and if I can take it in the direction of a nude figure. Thanks, Don.
Very beautiful and pure. Especially how you have no makeup on shows the confidence you have in yourself and that's very wonderful. Such a simply portrait and yet so powerful.
In this photo, I think the "no makeup" is wonderful. Makeup says, "I've taken the time and energy to prepare myself for the outside world. I have put on the face I *want* to have, the face I want other people to see me with." No makeup says, "This is who I really am. You may think I am beautiful, or not, but that does not change me."
I love the expression in your eyes here, with the not sitting, not laying down on the rumpled covers, as if you are trying to sleep but can't.
(OK, the bat in the corner is just too funny. I confess I didn't see it until I read some of the comments. It does add a bit of an ironic twist to the photo though. "I may be vulnerable, but don't even THINK about taking advantage of me." hehe...)
Pose, composition and lighting are just great!
