Another exciting piece of news I forgot to share - what with all the work I'm putting into it right now - I have been commissioned by the Royal School of Needlework to write the Essential Stitch Guide to Whitework, due to be published next year.  It will contain the different types of whitework embroidery with detailed instructions, as well as guidance on design and how to combine the techniques.Work progresses, with many many samples to stitch!  I am enjoying it immensely and I hope readers will too!It will be part of a series of books - Blackwork, Crewel Work, Silk Shading and Stumpwork are already published by Search Press.Lizzy x

I just realised I haven't mentioned my exciting news: I worked on Kate Middleton's beautiful gown for her wedding to Prince William!I spent some time as part of the team at the Royal School of Needlework, working on the massive number of lace motifs used to decorate the dress, veil and shoes.  I feel very privileged to have been involved even for a little while with the stunning work they created.  I expect 99.9% of you have already been exposed to it, but if not just google Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge and you'll find as many images as you could wish for.Lizzy xPS. I seem to have been away from dA for a long time working on my webs...

E-commerce

0 min read
After months of having to largely ignore the development of my website, what with exhibitions taking over my life, I have finally got the e-commerce parts of my site up and running! Hopefully they will run successfully with no hiccups... if anyone would care to check it out it is www.laurelin.co.ukOf course the site is still growing all the time but it is really satisfying to finally have that working.  It has a lot more of my kits and recent work than you can see here, and the gallery should be playing a bigger role quite soon.I'm currently working on new kits for classes at the Royal School of Needlework beginning Jan '11 and preparing f...

Is that your owl design I see in the RSN's new Blackwork book? If it is, congrats, it's stunning =)

You deserve to be watched, your embroidery is amazing!!! xx
Umm... yes, I certainly hope so - they asked permission about a year ago. And thank you, I'm glad you like it! Did you by any chance go to the Knitting & Stitching Show today for the big launch and signing? I have a stand there, but hadn't had time to advertise it on here! I was just thinking I should write a journal about it actually.
Hey sorry for the tardy reply!

You're welcome, I think your owl is wonderful. I'm hoping the RSN's fabby new book will inspire me to do fresstyle designs - so far I design all my blackwork patterns using Pattern Maker Pro.

No I didn't go to the Knitting & Stitching show =( I have not been working lately due to illness so I cannot afford to do the shows. I went to Stitch at the Olympia II last year and want to go again next year but that all depends on the state of my finances.

*sigh*
Aww, thanks!

It has got really expensive now, I sympathise. Still, if there's one to go to in the year, that has to be the best. I think I'll have a stand again next year as it was pretty successful for me. Hopefully you'll make it and I'll see you there.
Just so you had a birthday today... so happy birthday!
Aww, thanks!

Cute gallery btw, I think you will like my new range of kits. I'll try to remember to link them for you when I upload - they are tea party themed canvases!
Oh, thank you! :aww:
