I wish I could paint!
When I was a kid, I thought the only artists out there are the painters! :giggle:
As I grew up, I knew that not only them have the privilege to be called "artists", but they still impress me more than any others of their kind! Painting seems to be a task that needs a lot of learning, practice and skills. I've never had a painting class at school, and I wonder (if I did) whether I would have liked it or not. I must confess that the language class did grab my whole attention!
I don't think I ever tried to paint something, but I don't feel like I have any talent for it. It's the same for drawing; the only thing I seem to be able to do is draw a larger version of an already existing piece, but hey, it needs a hell of a time to be accomplished!! :giggle:
One thing I am sure of now is that painters aren't the only "artists" out there, and I don't just like what they do…I adore it!! :iconpaintdotnetplz:
Well, I've been collecting some amazing paintings and drawings, and I thought

Laura Zerebeski
Artist | Professional | Traditional Art
I am a full-time expressionist painter with a surrealist edge. I paint urban landscapes and personify buildings so they look like the people that live in them.

I grew up in a pulp mill town in BC's interior. My art teachers were often exasperated because I wanted to go by instinct which means I'm mostly self-taught. As much as becoming a starving artist scared me, I became one - two recessions and several depressions later (economic and personal). Now? Life is good. Cardio helps. So does a healthy balance of coffee and beer.

Current Residence: Vancouver
Favourite cartoon character: Pinky & The Brain
Personal Quote: Life isn't fair, it's just fairer than death, that's all (W. Goldman, Princess Bride)
I read a review that highlighted a phrase van Gogh used to describe his own work: "consolatory art for distressed hearts." The phrase takes the slight shame I have in making frivolously pretty paintings and reconciles it with my own enjoyment of making and looking at frivolously pretty paintings.

Here's a link to the review:…
Just as there are writers’ writers, so there are painters’ painters: necessary exemplars, moral guides, embodiers of the art. Often they are quiet artists, who lack a shouty biography, who go about their work with modest pertinacity, believing the art greater than the artist. ...

And it goes on. It's a long article. The best, most poignant paragraph (for me at least) is the closing one:

"What pleases the PUBLIC is always what’s most banal,’ he wrote to his brother in 1883. But nowadays Van Gogh pleases the public enormously. So has he become banal? Could our difficulty in being able to see him properly be a sign that there is only so much looking to be had, and/or that with age we grow out of him? Oddly, no. He isn’t one of those painters – like, say, Degas or Monet – who, over the decades, refine and deepen our vision. I am not sure that Van Gogh’s paintings change for us very much over the years, that we see him differently, find more in him, at sixty or seventy than we did at twenty. Rather, it is the case that the painter’s desperate sincerity, his audacious, resplendent colour and his intense desire to make painting ‘a consolatory art for distressed hearts’ take us back to being twenty again. And that is no bad place to be. "

Nope. Surely it isn't.

Hey, your art is awesome!, I like how you warped things sometimes. You should check out my drawing of Vancouver, done cartoon style. Out of all the cities in the world I chose to draw Vancouver..... Rio would be cool too. I'll be sure to see what else you paint!

Flag of Brazil Ni oi ma Flag of China , Laurazee it's a mix of Chinese and Portuguese of hello/hi, ni hao ma + oi = ni oi ma so I appreciate u say it too.
So do u always have watched Stitch the Movie or Lilo & Stitch series if u, alredy know that Stitch cousin yellow part Chinese dragon looking alien experiment 221 nicknamed Sparky?
Over 7 months ago there was a Lilo & Stitch Chinese spin-off just came out on March 27th, 2017 as there is a new girl, a Chinese girl named Ai Ling(An Ling in Chinese) in China on tv and in 2017 in a Chinese calendar is the year of the rooster.
Ai Ling is in a place of Lilo only in a place of China instead of Hawaii, here is the picture of them… isn't Sparky and that new little girl perfect and adorable?
If your interested in them the Chinese girl and you should somehow, alredy know that Chinese dragon-like experiment alien Sparky to draw them.
Could u draw them in a Chinese festival wearing these outfits, a Chinese gate called a Paifang in the background for them, drumming Ai is doing in that pretty China flag colored Chinese qipao outfit and Sparky wearing this cool outfit like a monkey king sort of having these antennaes on the cap and some Chinese warrior outfit matching for the Chinese festival it looks like to me, a stick and a lantern stick carrying with him as Ai carrying a drum celebrating in that street in China so here are they to copy their outfits and the background with the Paifang for the street Ai's Chinese outfits festival or Sparkys outfits can u do that, please?
When u finished the request for the Sparky & Ai fans/me so submit it in these special corresponding dates I'm picky with I want them to be in those days I'm available to plus favorite them is on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 14th, 17th, 19th, 21st(that matches Sparky's 221 number), 22nd, 24th, 27th or 29th ur ready to submit them this year 2017 in these last 2 months of 2017 or this month of 2017 as it's special, please?
Also 7th, 17th and 27th dates matches 2017 too in a special way.
So what u think of:flagofbrazil: ni oi ma:flagofchina: that mixed/fused Portuguese/Chinese words?

I love looking for someone from Brazil to draw them for the soon to be Sparky and Ai fans in your own style of art these Chinese cartoon characters.

To see the world the way you seem to see it would either make it a much happier place of colourful wonder, or considerably more frightening. I cannot figure out which, but either way the world would have its beauty so well done.
Fine art work.

Hi Laura, this is a little odd brining this up now but I wanted to thank you for commenting on my stumped image a few months back and for also being the first person to comment on any of my work on DA. I also took a look at your gallery and you have some really wonderful work, I am definitely going to add you to my watch list.

Thanks again from Jared aka Happy The Tiger :) (Smile)

I have to say your art really stands out...!  And I really like your style asI have tried something similar but always revert back to realism, no matter if the content is mixed.  Good job again!
