Reflection by Laurasshadesofgrey Reflection by Laurasshadesofgrey
This one started as a sketch by bored hands while watching TV, with no intention of finishing it. It started with the eye, then grew and grew:)
Hair is so difficult for me. Ive looked at many tutorials, it seems so simple, except I tend to wanna draw every strand:faint:
No reference used, except an occasional peek in the mirror, which is why its called Reflection.
And is it me or does the nose seem long??
Drawn Bristol board
0.5 mechanical pencil
9B art pencils
q-tips and tissue

Thank You for viewing:rose:

What's wrong with 'tending to wanna draw every strand'? I started in sketches of women, and in the pursuit of more and more detail, mechanical pencils, *re-invented* mechanical pencils (do you LIKE 3/10ths millimeter?) improving sports illustrated swimsuit photos B-) ....... the way I've gone about working my portfolio, that's one of the primary reasons to keep DOING it... trying something so perfectly rendered that it hasn't been done to that detail before.

Haha its just so time consuming, but wonder if im overdoing doing it:)I dont know about millimeters, just my favorite is a plain old Pentel HB5,bought at the local grocery store, which is quite small, and perfect for details, which love to do:)

Awman, I want to be able to draw hair like that ;o; That's so amazing. So much detail @__@ I think hair is one of the more enjoyable parts when drawing people... So much shiny!

Fascinating work Laura. She looks in the mirror and is saddened and disturbed by the refection. What does she see?

Wow, great! Amazing without reference! And the hair is beautiful!

Maybe you´re right about the nose, before I read your comment I was wondering about the nose myself, but as a complete drawing it looks great, so why worry?

Thanks, I think the hair across the face plays a part it too, all in all though I do like it and cant complain, the hair is the main focus and was so much fun to draw:)

I still don't manage to break this habit myself (sigh) This is like having a sheet having a bad fold in a sheet and you wanna try hard to smooth it. LOL

...Dear laura,it's a very beautiful drawing.Splendid ,how You mad the hair:clpa:also the expression of her Eye.
But:According to me,the eye is much to big, compared to the face(it's nearly as big as her mouth),if I would imagine her second eye,it would come nearly into her ear.Personally,I think,it should have been more down, and ...smaller.But this is my point of view.
remains still a very fine artwork, and I am totally amazed by her hair,I have to repeat this!:iconwittlebearplz::iconclaustrawberry:

Flori,I thank you very much for your honesty:hug:Seeing this through you eyes,I can see what you mean and you are right! I did feel that the nose and eye was weird, but the most glaring mistake of all was where the eye on the right would be:laughing:that never occurred to me at all!!!!!
