Only thoughts are free Surprises - Part 1 The day dragged on endlessly, even though I was able to finish work in the afternoon and drive home. There I found a message on the answering machine saying that, surprisingly, there was going to be another theater rehearsal and that it might therefore be later than expected. Why didn't he call me on my cell phone? Just a few words after he found out? Suddenly, my mood plummeted. I did what I actually detested, but couldn't help myself, and poured myself a glass of cognac. Far too much, I realized immediately. Especially since I couldn't tolerate alcohol. The effect was immediate, and more intense than I initially wanted to admit to myself. I stood in front of the large mirror in the bathroom for more than half an hour after trying to clear my alcohol-filled head with a shower. The success was moderate.
