Bethany's Eyes by Laticis Bethany's Eyes by Laticis
Inspired by comments from:iconfluffybush: in relation to this image Blank Post Worked
I decided to try my hand at modifying the textures maps and surface materials to focus on the render aspect.
Ity certainly made a big difference though there is still so much that can be done ion post work to enhance an
image that just can't be done in 3DF

Top image is the render.

DAZ Studio base lighting used but set to Dome only with rotation modified.

Software used:

DAZ Studio 4.8 (Iray) /  Photoshop CS6  / NIK Tools

Mesh: Genesis 3 Female - Material: Bethany

I would mistake these for real eyes if there wasn't a face surrounding them. That's how good these eyes look. Great Job.

Ok, I guess I'm the one that doesn't see much difference. The postworked one is a bit brighter, but the difference is fairly subtle.  I suspect the difference would be difficult to discern if the render isn't a closeup on the eyes.

So what is the vast difference you all see? Not trying to argue, just trying to understand different perceptions.

For the record, I think both/either are quite good. I also believe that subtle postwork can accomplish perceptually significant overall impacts.

The difference is very subtle for this one indeed you would need to overlay them one on top over the over to really notice.
But mainly check the corner of the eyes, plus subtle shadow and highlight added to the iris. Skin tone, spec and a little more sharpness added.
Not too much done but tweaking and fixing was still required.

I will be supplying setting and a preset eventually when I understand what's going on.
But for now try this:

Select in the Surface Tab: Your Iris, Sclera and Pupil and then apply an Eye Preset with CTRL selected and make sure you choose Selected surfaces.
Or the same again but this time apply the IRay Uber Base

Next apply Glass Thin Clear to the Eye Moisture and for the Cornea take the opacity to Zero

Then all you need to do is play with the reflective and gloss settings of the glass.

Spent a bit of time actually modifying the texture maps for this too.
