Battle Kid V1.100 Box Art by LarryBundyJr Battle Kid V1.100 Box Art by LarryBundyJr
This is the Version 1.100 box art design I did for Sivak's "Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril" NES game. The first platform game released on the Nintendo on cartridge in over 15 years!

I also designed the original box art too, but I didn't have the time to colour it in properly so Sivak did his own take on it. So when I heard he was re-releasing the game due to some bugs, I offered to redraw the cover too. It's quite an improvement over the original if you put the two side by side.

But the oly difference between this and the actual piece used on the box cover is that Sivak removed the glowing power from his right hand. But other than that, it's identical!!!

Oh my god, I've seen this artwork plenty of times floating around the net and heard even more about how awesome this old school game is, but I never realised that the cover art was drawn by Guru Larry, the only way this could be cooler is if Dr. Ashens wrote the Instruction manual.

Yeah, not many people know I used to do this for a living before I started making videos. Videos kind of took the forefront and my art pretty much stopped.

But I want to start again, maybe get into animation as well!

Making boxart's for a living? Or did you mean drawing?

Its still cool you got involved. Imagine the context of Ashen's instruction manual, on a single sheet of toilet paper. ;P

Nice! Very retro feel to it with showing some enemies in the scene in all that. I think that they could have been a tad larger though, but it fits for sure. :)

Sivak wanted them that size, but I agree, they could have been bigger!
