Description

The island ahead standing boldly against another coming storm.
Another elemental darkness rising from the northern ocean.
The day is growing weaker, its swan song like ringing gold.
Last glimpses of dazzling light before the Darkness falls.

These jagged cliffs under our feet.
All the while as we were climbing Brosmetinden....
....We really walked on the edge of the world.

View from Brosmetinden, from the edge of the tall cliffside overlooking the Ocean.
This is the view southwest, towards the opening of Ersfjorden into the ocean.

On the left, on the horizon, is the silhouette of the southern Ersfjord mountains.
The first is Bremnestinden (785 m), its slope forming the cape and the westernmost end of the range.
In front of the Ersfjorden mountains, the small Risøya island is sitting in the now quiet fjord opening.
Behind Bremnestinden, the other dark and low mountain and cape is actually part of Høgøya island.
Further behind, the small silhouette in the sea is a glimpse from the distant Tussøya island.
Far far away over the sea, there is another mountain silhouette that is barely visible under the sunlight.
Those mountains, 30 km away, are epic and massive, and are the northernmost part of Senja.

Directly ahead is the massive island Sessøya.
The low mountain on its left (south) side is called Stabben (474 m).
The snowy massif in the island's center is Sessøytinden (657 m).
The small pyramid to the right of it is called Blåfjellet (537 m).
North of Sessøya the ocean darkened under heavy stormclouds....

04.10.2018, Brosmetinden (525 m).
