I love your stuff...really nice...what software do you use? I use Microsoft Digital Imaging Suite (now defunct) to put my pieces together and move them into PhotoScape, a nice freeware photo manip. Also use GIMP. The distort filter you used on Alley Twist looks good.

- It's not actually a distort filter. Alley Twist started as a digital panorama built from 24 single images composited into a single equirectangular projection using the open source package Hugin. The distort effect you are seeing is a result of projecting all these sources into a single output.

- After Hugin generates the composite image, it is enhanced using GIMP. After final cropping, I make heavy use of the Unsharp Mask filter and the Colors > Levels dialog to really pop the detail. The image after this is at: [link]

- A smaller (<4mp) version of this image is then imported into Inkscape, yet another open source tool. I use Path > Trace bitmap... to trace the image as a vector, using edge detection to further highlight the detail, while simultaneously abstracting the base image by dropping the color count.

- The vector image gets saved as a .svg file, which is imported back into GIMP at a very high resolution for final contrast and color enhancement. This image exported as an uncompressed .jpg for upload to deviant art.
