Street Fighter Destiny: Makoto

This is my participation in a really cool art jam from that involves designing a character for an SF game that takes place 30 after the SFIII arc.  I figure Makoto's one of the few who would be young enough to still participate later, so here's my take on her. 

Basically, the story I have in mind is that after a few unsuccessful bids in the World Warrior tournament, Makoto finally wins in what can only be described as an unbelievable run of upsets.  We're talking March Madness Cinderella story upsets.  I would consider her to be an underdog when compared to the likes of Ryu, Sagat, Ken, or Cammy.  But somehow she manages to will her way to the finals where she faces and defeats Mr. Street Fighter himself.

Of course, the newly acquired fame gives her completely revives business at her failing dojo.  Assuming the role of sensei does wonders for her in terms of self-growth, but she eventually becomes jaded.  Her biggest issue is that she has yet to find a student passionate enough about martial arts to be considered as an heir to the Rindokan style.  Aging, and with her dojo filled with celebrities and casual practices, Makoto decides that she must seek out someone with a fiery warrior's soul to become her successor.  With this goal in mind, she enters the tournament again to test the best fighters of the world and hopefully find one that she trust to inherit her dojo and the Rindokan legacy (epic music plays).

Seriously though, this was one of the funnest projects I've participated in, probably because I've never tried to age an character by 30 years.  I tried to capture the "essence" of Makoto, but give replace her rebellious side with a more mature and "sage" look.  I may take one more stab at drawing a more detailed picture of this.  It was that much fun.
