Description
Ah, an attempt at romance! I guess it's fitting being that Valentine's Day just passed. This is supposed be a photograph that my hero and his then love interest took during their high school riverboat ball (an even bigger gala than the senior prom). This is two years before the present story, in which the two characters are not so close anymore.

I like the way this is going, but I'm having some problems with a few specific areas:
1. Shading on the skin. I thought I had this down, but I just can't seem to get it right with this picture.
2. The water. I never thought I'd say this, but I need something a little less realistic. It just doesn't go well with the anime-ish feel of the main characters. Any techniques or examples would be greatly appreciated.
3. The blush on the girl's face. I was going for a sense of shyness, and blush looks easy enough to do. Yet, something about mine seems off and I'm not sure what it is.
I appreciate any comments and/or tips!

1. Shading on the skin.
It's really not that bad. The shadows, however, do seem like they are competing for where the light source is. For example, the light source appears to be coming from the mid/upper left, so the shadows would be on the right. On her right arm on the right side, there should be a shadow. Make sense?
2. The water.
The water certainly does appear too realistic for the piece. For example, looking through your gallery, if you did something more like this, but with a more of a hard cell shading thing like you've done on this picture, it would have [possibly] fit in more with the image
3. The blush on the girl's face.
It's fine if you ask me. It's subtle enough that you notice it but doesn't become the center of attention of her face.
Keep up the nice work!
