Queen of Hearts

Just a fun concept I'm working on the side to practice creative ideas.  Think of it as a cross between chess and playing cards.  There are four dominions (the four card suits).  Although the king is technically the head of state, it is the queen who wields all of the power.  Each queen runs her dominion and commands her army on the battlefield.  The king does have a purpose, but I don't want to throw all my ideas out there yet.

Octavia of Cardienne
It's only fitting that Octavia is the Queen of Hearts because she is beloved and admired by all of her subjects.  In fact, she is arguably the most popular person in any of the four dominions.  Her people continually line the palace driveway in hopes that their queen will grace them with an appearance, and Octavia frequently obliges her loyal citizens, always taking time out of her day speak to them with her docile voice and graceful smile.  Her subjects hang on her every word, their devotion bordering on worship.  Despite all of this, Octavia remains humble and views her position as responsibility to serve her people.

Although she exudes nothing but kindness, Octavia is also a master fencer.  From the day she took up the art, she has never lost a duel and left has many a foe slain on the battlefield at the hands of her prized epee, the Heart Stealer.  She does not appear to be as intimidating as the other queens, but she has held her own against each of them in combat multiple times.  It's safe to say that the dominion of Cardienne is safe with Octavia seated upon the throne.
