How to Get Saved"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" - Hebrews 9:27
1. You must realize that you are a sinner who has broken God's perfect law, and are deserving of hell, and that no number of your own "good deeds" will ever save you. A person goes to one of two places after their death: heaven, or hell. Your sin is far worse than the world wants you to believe. I'm writing this so that you may see the truth about it and hopefully act accordingly.
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" - Romans 3:10
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" - Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23
"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt." - Daniel 12:2
"How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?" - Job 15:16
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." - Isaiah 64:6
2. You must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone to save you, to wash away and forgive your sins. There is no other being in the universe who can forgive sins. Because of His mercy, He will spare you from hell. The reason Jesus died on the cross and rose again on the third day was to make salvation possible for us. He lived the perfect, sinless life on this earth that we couldn't live, and this qualified Him to be the perfect sacrifice for us. However, this means that He is the ONLY WAY to be saved (John 14:6), because there's no one else who is capable of taking away your sins. He imputes (transfers) His righteousness to you when you trust in Jesus to save you! Amazing!
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 --->
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Acts 16:30-31 --->
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." - Romans 3:28
"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." - Romans 4:5
Ephesians 1:12-14 --->
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" - Titus 3:5
"...In whom (Jesus) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;" - Ephesians 1:7
Ephesians 2:8-9 --->
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." - 2 Corinthians 5:21
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" - Romans 5:1
Romans 5:8-11 --->
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
3. If you do make the decision to trust in Jesus Christ alone to be saved, that's wonderful! However, you still retain the free will to obey or disobey God. Of course, you should want to obey God after He saved you and do good works; your salvation isn't a license to sin. Also, God doesn't grant you salvation based off of whether or not you are willing to clean your life up. Should you clean it up? Yes, but the willingness to clean up your life doesn't merit salvation; it's simple faith in Jesus to save you that takes away your sins. These verses exhort you to clean up your life, and should definitely be heeded.
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." - Romans 12:2God bless you
