LieLie Reference Sheet

Finally a formal reference sheet, been pecking at this for about a month now...  I have to say, I'm really, really flattered at the reception I've gotten for LieLie/Shantih, I'm super-happy you guys have shown such interest in this story, thank you all so much!!!  

(Pronounced like "yeah", but with an L instead of a Y)

- Cannot speak.  She is also unfortunately illiterate; she can neither read nor write.  Communication is one of her biggest challenges.  

- Does not need to eat physical food, but does drink: sta.sh/0k7p5qwda78

- Takes very good care of her hair, despite it being impractical--she considers it one of the only beautiful things about herself, and can't bring herself to cut it off.  

- Mild-mannered by nature, she is against the taking of another's life but forced to do so to survive.

- She has never received any formal training in martial arts, so her technique mostly relies on blunt force and is fairly unrefined and unconventional.  She's not particularly fast nor smart, but gets by with her brute strength, enhanced by the TaoTie.

- The TaoTie manifests mainly through her upper body: if left unchecked it will begin to turn her hands into claws, push up horns from her skull, and alter her upper jaw after its own form: sta.sh/0uwglqnid23  (This is why LieLie tends to have some pretty long canines, and why the shape of her scar/jaw hasn't healed normally.)  An early warning sign of manifestation is when her skin begins to stain black.

LieLie is a simple peasant girl at heart.  She's not very good at hiding her emotions or communicating her feelings to others, and tends to avoid human interaction given the stigma toward disfigured people.  She is honest and straightforward, but also gullible and sometimes slow to comprehend.  Even before the TaoTie incident she didn't speak often, not having much to say.  She is incredibly hard-working and puts up with incredible hardship with no complaints.  She is very capable of taking care of herself, being the first child of a poor farmer family, but is unfamiliar with many of the ways of city/affluent living.  

Due to her incident, wandering lifestyle and solitary nature, LieLie wonders sometimes if she hasn't already died, and become a preta (hungry ghost) or otherwise passed on from the world.  She also bears no last/family name--that was also discarded when she left home.
