I remembered (again... re-remembered) this Christmas just how much art relaxes me (when i'm not on a schedule anyway)...
I created the image for my wedding invites this winter break, and it was the best week ever.
That combined with all the beer made Rosie a very happy camper.
So now that I've re-entered my crazy busy school life I am determined to get back on the art wagon, for my own sake.
But I can't do giant-ass abstract paintings when I'm on the bus two hours a day and at school for 10...
I need to sketch... So I realize I need to brush up my cartoon-realism again!
It's funny how I first wanted to be an artist because of the super detailed fairy tale books i grew up on, and yet I've departed so far from that style over the years.
As ever, when I can't find any inspiration inside this puny head of mine, I revert to Fan art, which at the very least makes me REALLY HAPPY.
AAAAAAND since I have had the HP Audio Books narrated by Stephen Fry on my Ipod for the last 8 months, clearly the obvious choice has been Harry Potter.
So far I've only done two portraits, of Luna and Hermione. But I just started.
One thing I really enjoy is the fact that every time I go away from human portraiture and come back to it, it is always just as good as before without too much brushing up - sometimes better!
In this case they're quite cartoony, but like a kids book... not like a stick figure...
If I feel any of these are worth sharing, I will do so. But I may or may not colour them first.
