Getting it started is always a bit difficult for me; I guess it's just getting things rolling that the hardest part for me (then again I'm an amateur writer sooo) I mean, once I get into the story and everything, things go more smoothy.

I'm amateur still to but its okay as long as you keep trying you will eventually get something you will be proud of! <B

Somehow I don't hate any of it. Sometimes, I like one thing more, sometimes an other. Though I have to admit I kinda suck in world creation as in where which place is gonna be how the map looks like etc. Don't hate it tho

I have my weak spots too in world building. Like I'm not climate or weather savvy for regions and have had to scrap continents because I created them one way but tried to fit certain weather patterns to them that wouldn't exist. So yeah, I've been doing research.

Oof. Don't even ask me. I used a landscape generator in Blender and just slapped that until it felt okay. Weather?
Hah. I got a freaking eternal snowstorm! Maybe not for eternity though. THen the struggle is gonna get real.

I love the creation and development of a story the world, every part... until it comes to actually describing a scene, I just bought a book to help me. According to a friend, my dialogue is great, and the story line works, I just have a problem painting the picture. Then there is the editing... I hate the editing.

I think that comes with practice the more you observe people in their natural habitats and the more you practice writing or watching scenes from movies or shows that interest you the more you are able to gleam off them and adapt your writing accordingly. Also reading outside your range is good too. Like non-fiction has helped me a lot and I never considered it before. I have been reading everything from intrigue to war and even how to make stuff. It's been enlightening. Say you want to write a smithing scene for a fantasy. it's essential that you know what your talking about and not just youtube video because that's modern smithing. I had to dig to find old ancient methods. I was lucky I took jewlery in college because I got to learn old jewelry methods from ancient egypt. The lost wax method and such. (Molds)

For me, it is planning - though I have to admit that I usually stay with shorter stories or "only" scenes if I get to writing :) . I usually have an idea and just want to "jump into it" - and doing too much planning just gets me out of that moment... maybe that will come one day :) . Though for planning, I see two things: "detailed planning" of the story arc, but somehow also everything around (would more get into world developement).

What I also really don't like is naming characters... in all the stories or anything I developed so far, I never really had a thing for names. There are very few names that stuck to a character, and with the rest it was just like "Hm, obviously needs a name... why not XY, and maybe change it lateron".

Yeah placeholders :D lol that's me my names look like ***** or 99999 or name or Lys or Atrum I get a few names in here and there that stick.

:D

Good to know I'm not the only one! I recently saw an interview of an author, and he said that he always needs to give the people names before he can write with/about them, but an author he visited named her characters A1, A2, ..., and assigned names afterwards.

lol I think I focus more on personality and story, A person is still a person and has quirks and problems like everyone else despite a name. So I can see why she did that.

That's true :) . Yet a name also is an important part of a person - but I get what you mean.
