Hm, well... what kept me from Patreon is that first, you do commit to do things regularly and second, you might bind yourself to a userbase and do stuff they want to see (at least those are two points I see done often, I don't know if it is obligatory or just the way people do it). And you have to get people there, first. I wasn't as far as all the tax-stuff then, I so-to-say stopped before that ^^
I'm not sure if they display other terms to you - but due to the new (one year old) regulations in the EU, they should have to tell you all that . Maybe they do tell you what applies to you. You could look up their Terms of Service - I think it should be in there. Not all (like: where exactly and how secure), but much of it. Or so I hope.
