lol it's fine. I feel really dumb when I see half the txt lingo online and I was part of a generation that started that. The new txt short hand is confusing. I have a watcher on here that says ssssssskss which I have yet to understand. @.@ I feel old. Or how about OTL what's that mean?
I have it, but rarely use it now. It is hard to keep track of what people are posting at times. Facebook seems to throw things in my feed in random order. I do love Instagram for artwork. Very active there. Very little drama and good way to meet fellow artists.
The only problem with Instagram is that only way to submit there is to use the phone app. But I think it is worth the trouble
I agree with you on apps. But that is how Instagram was founded on was people sharing photos they did on their phones and other devices. So I could see why they might think that being submit from a website would be a waste of time.
Well if you do check it out, you can find me there under the handle @notathoughtgive Which is the other thing I hate about Instagram is their restriction on the length of handles. I mean come on my trade name is cut off
I don't recommend it. Leaving FB after being on it since 2009 has done WONDERS for my mental health. It's not worth it, especially if you are currently struggling with stress, anxiety, or depression. Unless you limit your friend list to only 10 people you know VERY well who do not post political, religious or any kind of opinionated things and have no intention to argue with every fucking thing you post (which seems to be the mentality of everyone on there anymore, no matter WHO) and avoid every comment section of every page you follow in your newsfeed-... it's just worth it. I tried limiting everything I followed to videogame updates, movies and cats... still so many negative nasty things popping up. Making my own posts (even set to friends only) gave me anxiety cuz I just knew someone was going to argue with me. People I have known my whole life and thought loved me. FB makes people angry and paranoid so anything and everything " trigger" even the kindest of people. You are purposely misunderstood by others to the point of being on the defensive all the time. I'm just starting to relax on DA as I'm seeing that notifications don't mean that someone is trying to start shit with me over nothing. But I'm still afraid of what I write on here to avoid confrontation if possible. TL;DR ...don't use FB for the sake of your sanity.
Nods. I have my required... family account, and yes I get what your saying. I'm not sure I want to use it as a platform for my art because of this as well. The less I'm on the better I am. I'm barely on there anyway. Like a few times a year if that. I get on to check to see if the local clothing closet is open for my son.
Don't put your art on FB. That's one of the worst places for art theft. There's so security (DA at least has the copyright on the original post to prove that you uploaded it first and the DA admins are trained to deal with art theft. FB doesn't give a shit) A Fallout meme page would visit MY account and "steal" my shit without credit daily!! I thought I was paranoid until I saw that they shared a screenshot I had made of a conversation I had here on DA about MacCready. I made a Fallout joke and took a screenshot to share with my friends on FB... two days later I found it shared as a post on the Fallout meme page without credit (not that I'd be okay with that either)... Yeah. Not subtle at all. You can cover your art with watermarks and signatures and basically ruin the experience of the viewer to protect it, but again- FB isn't worth it. I can promise you will have a negative experience the longer you are on it and as a person with depression, it only exasperates things. I don't know a single person who says "FB is a nice place. People are respectful of me and my opinions there". But I can say that about DA since I have way more control over my content here.
