Vildahn by LadyPipen Vildahn by LadyPipen

General Information

The Vildahn are mainly reptilian creatures with great thick manes and occasionally tail tufts. Their scales are mostly colored grey, with lighter bellies and “snow-marks” across their backs. Like Felireth, they have retractable claws to pair with a menacing set of fangs and antlers- yet they are not carnivores, and the fangs have evolved over time as a defense mechanism to threats to their young and territory. They are docile, unless the unwary wander into their chosen nesting patch, or approach their young.

Diet and Habitat

Vildahn have a set of molar teeth in addition to their fangs- which they use to eat berries and the leaves and branches of berry bushes. Due to this dietary need, Vildahn often hold expansive territories over the berry patches that grow on mountainsides, but only residing in one patch at a time, their “Nesting Patch”, which they will remain in until the food source is depleted and they move on to the next patch in their territory.

Thanks to the monochrome coloration of their scales, the Vildahn keep to berry patches that grow on the mountainside- the rockier, the better. Rarely do they ever descend from their home territories unless their food supply has run out or another abnormality- a Vildahn away from a mountain is a dangerous one, to be avoided at all cost.

Behavior

Vildahn do not use berries for just food- they use them for dominance and mating displays, adding color to their normally grey scales. The antlers, tail, and paws are stained with berry juice to establish dominance. The Vildahn, male or female, with the most color stained on their body, has the largest or most fertile territory, and so is the most desirable mate or the top of the pecking order. Due to their reclusive nature, not much else is known of Vildahn, other than they are equipped to be dangerous to any other creature trespassing on their territory- caution when dealing with one is advised.

ONLY TO BE USED BY AND WITHIN THE SHATTERED WORLD. This is not an open species.
