Edit 10/6/11- added general breed personality and quirks
Finally done!
Rules
1. Do not make one with rare traits before asking me.
2. Note me with the new horse so I can keep a registry of them.
3. Draft Draygloth purebreds are not allowed as starters. You can breed them to drafts though.
4. These are for a STABLE not an rpg or just to have around in your gallery.
Rare Traits
Sometimes a Dragloth is born with unusual traits due to the dragon blood. Long unicorn tails are not unheard of and occurred in the older lines. Clawed feet instead of hooves is possible as well but not liked. Rainbow or multi-colored (multi here meaning more than 3 colors) manes and tails are the product of recessive gene expression and is quite rare but does pair up with the gene that produces small wings in mares. Draconic heads or mouths have been seen but are very rare with our current breeding. Normal coat colors or patterns only occurs with Dragloth mixed with a regular horse. Albino can occur and so can melanistic, but both are extremely rare. Piebald coloring does occur but again is rare and is linked with partial Albinism.
As far as genetics go there is a rare gene called MU (standing for multi-colored or muti-limbed) that is responsible for more than 3 colors in the mane/tail and produces residual dragon wings in mares. When expressed in stallions it only shows the colorful mane and tails.
When breeding them to other unnatural or natural horses the patterned coat is dominant. This means the horse will have scales and hair and the patterned coat to mark them as Draygloth blood. It can be very faint like dapples on horses with little blood in them.
Breeding and Traits Passed
Draygloth x Horse=90% patterned coat, 50% scaling on belly and neck, 50% jewel-tone coloring, 5% dew claws, 15% horns/spikes, 10% colorful mane/tail.
When a Draygloth is bred to a normal horse there is a 50% chance the foal will be stillborn(this % is for smaller horse breeds) The larger the breed of mare impregnated the better chance the foal has to survive.
It is HIGHLY reccomended they be bred with either larger horses than an Arab or bred exclusively to a dragonhorse breed.
Draygloth x Halfbreed= 100% patterned coat, 80% scaling on belly and neck, 90% jewel-tone coloring, 50% dew claws, 60% horns/spikes, 50% colorful mane/tail.
Traits when breeding to another Dragon Horse
When breeding with another dragon horse breed:
Reptilian patterned coat is 100% dominant. This will always show on foals though their coats will never be natural colored such as browns, blacks, grays, or white.
Belly and throat scales 60% if mare does not carry them; 90% if she does.
20% chance of the foal exhibiting some of the less sought after characteristics such as elongated, reptilian mouth, three-toed claws instead of hoof and dewclaw, or draconic tail. Unicorn tails are more likely as well.
5% residual wings in females. This is still a VERY RARE trait but the chances go up to 10% if the breeding mare has wings.
Horns will be on both genders but their shape is determined at random unless the mare's line does not possess any, then it will default to Draygloth horns. Males' horns are always larger.
50% the spikes on the neck and hips will be present. In some cases they could be more numerous than the standard 4-6 usually seen.
Breed Personality and Quirks
The Draygloth is not a horse for an amateur. They are strong and spirited and don't trust people until worked with extensively. Foals will not have this extreme wildness due to being born captive. Wild adults take a lot of training and patience but once a Draygloth trusts you, they are unfailingly loyal. These equines aren't the cuddling type but they are affectionate in their own way. They are very hardy horses with extreme endurance. They can be aggressive towards normal horses seeing them as a prey item instead of a companion. Socialization is all that is needed to correct this issue.
Draygloth of light builds prefer warm and hot areas, while Draygloth of heavier build prefer an area with a bit of snow but still warm.
The breed standards don't always apply to all individuals. Please do your research before bringing your new equine friend home!

Any chance a custom could be ordered? I'd kill for one that looks like my iguana. :3
