This week's creature feature is: Western Dragons
From Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_… :
In European folklore, a dragon is a serpentine legendary creature. Though a winged creature, the dragon is generally to be found in its underground lair, a cave that identifies it as an ancient creature of earth.
In Western folklore, dragons are usually portrayed as evil, with the exceptions mainly appearing in modern fiction. In the modern period the dragon is typically depicted as a huge fire-breathing, scaly and horned dinosaur-like creature, with leathery wings, with four legs and a long muscular tail. It is sometimes shown with feathered wings, crests, fiery manes, ivory spikes running down its spine and various exotic colorations.
Many modern stories represent dragons as extremely intelligent creatures who can talk, associated with (and sometimes in control of) powerful magic. In stories a dragon's blood often has magical properties: for example in the opera Siegfried it let Siegfried understand the language of the Forest Bird. The typical dragon protects a cavern or castle filled with gold and treasure and is often associated with a great hero who tries to slay it, but dragons can be written into a story in as many ways as a human character. This includes the monster being used as a wise being whom heroes could approach for help and advice, so much so that they resembled Asian dragons rather than European dragons of myth.

NOTICE: I NEED YOUR IDEAS!
Do you know of an artist with amazing fantasy art (or are you one)? Read on!
I've been having some health issues over the last few weeks, and I haven't had as much time as I'd like to work on these articles. So here's the deal: I'm planning on doing a "Reader's Pick" article, with a bunch of fantasy or mythical creatures combined into one feature. The only rules are these: No nudity (just no naughty bits showing), no excessive blood or gore, and they MUST COME FROM A CATEGORY I'VE ALREADY DONE. These should be the ones I've "missed", if you will. All visual media. Just leave a comment on this article with a link to your favorite deviation or deviant, and I'll pick out the ones that really stand out to me to feature! Of course, if I don't have enough, I'll wait until I do.
Also, do you have a favorite fantasy creature that I haven't covered yet? Leave a comment suggesting which ones you would like to see!

Thank you so much for viewing, and come back next week for a different inhabitant of the Realms of Fantasy and Myth!

Inactivity
As you probably noticed, I'm not really active on here very much right now (I'm always logged in, so even if it says I'm here I'm probably not).
Nothing awful going on, just lots of things keeping me busy. So I'll be flitting in every now and then to weed through messages, but I'm basically taking a break from DA for a little while.
Take care, everyone!
