This week's creature feature is: Phoenix
From Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix :
The phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird which originated in the ancient mythologies mentioned in the Phoenician Mythology (Sanchuniathon) and the Egyptian and later the Greek Mythology.
A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1,000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of myrrh twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (sun city in Greek).
Flavius Philostratus (c. AD 170), who wrote the biography Life of Apollonius of Tyana, refers to the phoenix as a bird living in India, but sometimes migrating to Egypt every five hundred years. His account is clearly inspired by Garuda, the bird of the Hindu god Vishnu. He considered the bird as an emanation of sunlight, being in appearance and size much like an eagle.

Inactivity
As you probably noticed, I'm not really active on here very much right now (I'm always logged in, so even if it says I'm here I'm probably not).
Nothing awful going on, just lots of things keeping me busy. So I'll be flitting in every now and then to weed through messages, but I'm basically taking a break from DA for a little while.
Take care, everyone!

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter, everyone! Take just a moment today to remember what the holiday is about, it's easy to forget the triumphant story when surrounded by chocolate bunnies XD

I haven't really done much in the way of art for awhile, but I thought I would go ahead and upload what I have done. Expect random updates here and there while I upload everything whenever I get a spare moment! XD
