As those of you who watch my account (IanStruckhoff) probably know, a great deal of my focus has shifted from my photography to my writing in the last two years. While my time has been limited, I'm still powerfully drawn to photography, and it is long past time to scratch that itch.
To that end, I have founded a new group, showcasing the most astonishing photography I can find. Think of LaboratoryX as a virtual art gallery, with Ian X. as the curator. Or, if you prefer, think of it as a workshop of impossible alchemy, the nexus of magic and science, of beauty and technology. Somehow, such a chemical metaphor seems appropriate to photography.
The group doesn't include my own photography. This is what happens when I apply my "eye" not to my own viewfinder, but to the wider world of photography. This is the art that most inspires me. Every photo accepted is, as I see it, nearly perfect-- Many are beyond that, and truly astonish me.

Invited "Trustees" can suggest extraordinary photography to be included in the collection. The "Curator" manages the group and makes all final decisions on the collection. |

Hey would it be alright if I requested to become a regular member? I appreciate the contributor status, but I can only be a contributor in 10 groups at a time.. and since I'm not active in this one very much.. I just figured it would make sense to become a regular member.

It's still pretty new. I'm curious to see whether a group like this can take off. Most groups grow because people want to promote their own work, and that's not allowed here.
