Here's a little something i have been working on lately, and I am plan to launch it early next week! It's a training ground for artists to collaborate, improve, and recieve feedback - a hacker league for artists (as Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian may say.) It's pretty similar to what Thiefoworld does with SketchMatch and mlpdrawingschool does with DrawAlong.

Here are two screenshots I wanted to share:

Upload Page

You can draw from Muro (via the JavaScript API) or Sketchbook for Windows (via upload paths) or Sumo Paint (if a user has flash installed) and your image will be uploaded straight to the service once you save.

It's pretty simple and self-explanatory. I also created a lightbox model similar to deviantART that zooms in on an image when a user clicks on it.

(Excuse the crappy drawing, I wanted to draw something in Muro without crashing Safari. dt has told me that they are working on stability fixes when it comes to Muro on the iPad, but you get  the point :P)

Comments can be handled through Disqus or deviantART (experimental) and they can be disabled. A user can request critique, although critique will be more along the short lines of critical feedback instead of a 100 word star rating.

And that shall be all for now. If you're interested in when this thing launches, watch my journal! :)

This May or may not be my hackathon project!

Thanks! :D

The process is pretty similar to… except it's not really a contest, but rather a place for artists to improve and show off their skills.

There is currently no public API for comments, so I would strongly advise against trying to use dA's comment system for now. Even if you're pulling comments from deviation/ pages.

I created a script that will start a comment thread for every submission and generates an iframe but the user will not receive notifications in the message center.

I might as well remove that feature before the actual launch. :P
