The Zorya

My entry for the Dark Winter Tale Contest at malleni-stock.deviantart.com/j…. So this is my vision of the Zorya, two figures in Slavic mythology (And feature in Neil Gaiman's American Gods). They are two goddesses who guard over the doomsday dog, Simargl. They also serve the sun God Dazbog. One goddess is the Morning Star who opens the gates to his palace each morninng so that he can ride out. The Evening Star closes the gate when he returns.
My Dark Winter Tale features the two goddesses who in a fierce game of chess, forget their duties, thus plunging earth into a snowy, cold and dark world.
