Sandstone Waves

Lower Antelope Canyon
Page, AZ

This was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I pretty much had the canyon to myself for hours. I took about 400 pictures throughout, plus some video of the Navajo Indian playing songs on his guitar. The echo of the music inside the canyon was amazing. :D

An impressively atmospheric composition; the contrast between light and dark is remarkable.

I had a couple of questions. When would be the best time (season, month) to go to Lower Antelope Canyon and what would be the best time of day to shoot?

April 25 at 10:50am. (that's when I was there) :D
There was definitely a big change in hue at the time this shot was taken compared to the shots I had taken an hour or so before.
Other than that, I'm not sure...I only went there the one time.

Thank you so much! I am planning to make a trip there in the near future. I was curious to see what times other people went when they were there so I can maximize my time while I am there. I appreciate it nonetheless!

You should google "photographing antelope canyon" - there is a good article about it somewhere that I read before I went.

This looks like a computer-generated something, I had to search the web to get convinced that something like this actually exists. It looks unreal!

It definitely exists. The interesting thing is that the intensity of the color in the sandstone changes with the angle of the sun coming into the slot canyon. The pictures I took earlier in the morning weren't at vibrant as the ones I took later.
