UNIVERSAL COMPETITION RULES

🔹 Your Kyota's hierarchy level will which competition class they are allowed to participate in. For example; Rookies can only participate in
Beginner classes, but Paladins may participate in any class, granted they have the items required for it.

🔹 Some competition classes will require different items. In order to participate in that competition's class, the Kyota must have those items
applied. Otherwise, they will not be able to participate in that specific class.

🔹 Some competitions may require a rider/handler, but not all of them. All competitions listed will state whether this rule applies or not.

ART

🔹 Minimum canvas size is 400 x 400 pixels.

🔹 Collaborations are not allowed.

🔹 Markings may be simplified.

🔹 At least 75% of the Kyota must be shown.

🔹 The eyes and nose of the Kyota must be drawn if the face is visible.

🔹 Black and white is allowed, but it must be obvious who the Kyota is.

🔹 Backgrounds must be filled with colour if they are not B&W.

🔹 Backgrounds must be defined/have some form of depth. Unidentifiable and random blobs will be rejected.

🔹 Referencing stock photos for poses or backgrounds is allowed. Please credit your sources if heavily referencing.

🔹 Photo manipulation is allowed as well, but there must be clear effort shown. Simple recolours are not allowed!

🔹 These rules will apply for all classes, unless said otherwise in the Grandmaster section!

LITERATURE

🔹 Minimum word count is 800 words

🔹 Collaborations are not allowed.

🔹 The Kyota participating must be mentioned throughout the entry (ie: describing them, their actions, or their name)

🔹 If required, a rider/handler must also be described throughout the entry (ie: describing them, their actions, or their name)

🔹 These rules will apply for all classes, unless said otherwise in the Grandmaster section!

GRANDMASTER-SPECIFIC

🔹 All above rules apply, but with some changes. The stakes are higher within this class, along with the rewards, so different rules are required.

🔹 Art canvases must be at least 600 x 600 pixels.

🔹 Literature submissions must be at least 1200 words.

🔹 Art submissions will require some form of shading/depth. Flat-colour works are prohibited in this class.

YABUSAME (流鏑馬)

Your Kyota must have a rider/handler for this event regardless of what class it is in. They must be in a humanoid or anthro form, as your handler needs to be able to hold and shoot a bow!

Yabusame is a type of mounted archery in traditional Japanese archery. An archer on a running Kyota, sprinting down a straightaway, rope fenced track, shoots three special arrows in succession at three specific targets. This practice is commonly done at traditional-style events, shrines, and on several beaches across Japan. (Source)

Each class has specific requirements for Yabusame. Take care to make sure to check that your Kyota is the right level, and in some classes the required items!  The lower the level you are in a class, the higher the chance of failure as well as injury. Yabusame is not without its risks, and injury of all kinds (minor, moderate, severe) is possible! Despite the risk and work involved, the amount of Kaichin you earn makes it worth it. If your Kyota works up to the Grandmaster class, the rewards are even greater...
