Description
Well, I finally finished this one! It took a lot longer than expected and I had a difficult time settling on a background. After 3 attempts, I finally decided to go with this one. I spent more hours than I care to try to estimate, but hopefully it payed off. Dimensions are 42 inches W x 22 inches H, at 300 dpi and this was painted in Photoshop.
This is a B-17G Flying Fortress, christened as 'Thunderbird', from the WWII era. I used a photograph I took of the plane at an airshow as reference.

That’s very nice. My Dad was a B-17 bombardier, and for his 85th b-day I had a friend do a scene from his most memorable mission, when the bombs hung up on the racks, firing pins pulled, and Dad had to chop them out with the fire axe on the return trip. He tied a rope around his waist and hollered to one of the crew to tie the other end off. When he finally got them to drop and climbed out of the bomb bay, he thanked the guy for tying the rope to something. The guy asked, “what rope?”
