My Business Card

By Kydo
This is my first attempt to make a business card for myself. Yes, it has to be transparent. As you can see, I was a little over-eager, and didn't wait for the ink to set. So I smudged it while I was cutting it out.

It was mostly a test, but because it turned out so well anyways (aside from smudging) I'll upload it!

And I'm fully aware that it gives out my phone number and address. It's a business card. That's what it DOES. With any luck, some crazy person may see my gallery, and be interested! (Although I doubt it, my gallery's an absolute mess)

DISCLAIMER:
I DO NOT WANT MY SKETCHES TO BE HIDDEN AWAY IN A SEPARATE GALLERY. THE SCRAPS SECTION IS FOR MY BAD WORK. THIS SHIT IS GOOD, AND I WANT TO SHARE IT. PISS OFF, TROLLS AND ADMIN.

Critiques are words. I don't need a php mechanism to request one, and you don't need a php mechanism to write one. If you want to talk about the technical qualities of my art with me, please do so. THAT is a critique.

DA forces a copyright on my work. This copyright is void as far as I'm concerned. Do as you please with my image. I will not pursue you, nor will I tell anyone to.

That is officially the coolest business card I've ever seen. If anything people will remember if because it's just so different! (A definant plus)
If anything I would say maybe try and bring out your name and number on the card. Your name already does an okay job of being the first thing my eye sees, but it could be larger/bolder or something to make it stand out just a little bit more.
Your number could be more visible too, maybe to draw more attention to it rather than your address (As it has more weight in on that side of the card. Personally my eye jumps from your name/title straight to the address, with your number being last)

Hopefully that helps, but frankly I'm not really that experienced in design yet (Only just started University). Be sure to show us what the finished result looks like!

(Also, yay, you live in Alberta too, and thanks for the fav!)
Heh. You're welcome!

You are right, the address does have a stronger presence, but it's more of a scale issue. To remedy the problem, the number should be increased in font scale, while the address should be decreased. This would balance their compositional scale.

But, it's a cluttered composition anyways! My real issue has to do with getting the damned ink to stay on the plastic!

Thanks for the amazing critique of my work!

Glad it helped, and good luck with your card. I guess you'll have to make sure that not only does the ink stay on the plastic, but that it doesn't chip off after being in people's pockets for great lengths of time.

Good luck!

Thank you! Now, imagine it covered in microchip-style circuitry patterns of translucent blue!

Ha! Gold lettering? Fancy script font? Bah!

You're card is the king, Kydo.

Hm... Gold letters on a transparent card... I like the sound of that...

Ooooh. Go for it!

-JN.
To do this correctly, I will need:

Gold liquid latex
More transparencies
A plastic card stencil
A more accurate cutting tool of some sort
A way of applying the latex flatly, like a stamp. Perhaps paper/plastic contact transfer would work? Actually, a small paint roller could probably cover six cards in a sweep!

You know, for the commission group, we could make cards.

-JN.
Yes. This was one of many things I was planning to discuss with you bunch.

So when are we going to have another meeting then?

-JN.
Damnit, I dunno! Sundays are my only spare time! Unless you all want to meet me in RDC, or something.

That's a pretty nifty concept! I don't know anyone else who had transparent business cards. :)

Oh wow.

What is that material? Like, clear plastic or what? Because the thing looks really cool.

And you did that shit by hand. Good lord. O_O
It's not hard. I used a ruler for the lines, and a custom paper stencil for the letters! And the stencil was made by printing out that font onto card paper, and cutting the letters out! As for the material, it's just overhead transparency plastic.

YOU ARE A GENIUS.

Maybe I should do that that'd be awesome holy : o
I'm hoping to try replacing ink with some watered down gold acrylic paint.

Aw, but ink is awesome.

Erhm.

One time I made really nice looking blood with red and black and brown ink. It was radical.
