I tried this program in Windows 7 and I got an error that reads as follows:

read_obj failed: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.
at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal)
at System.Number.ParseInt32(String s, NumberStyles style, NumberFormatInfo info)
at System.Convert.ToInt32(String value, IFormatProvider provider)
at obj2sculpt.o2s.read_obj(String filename)
13135 Vertices
0 Faces
0 UVs
No Faces found, Bad .obj File ?
giving up. Hit a Key to exit.

hey, hate to bother you, but can you give me a quick explanation of how to run this?

I tried opening a command prompt and running

obj2sculpt (file name of obj)

but I get an error, saying something like the application failed to initialize

is there something I'm missing?

Thanks

If you're on windows 7 I don't know if it will run. I don't use Windows 7 so I wouldn't know.

But if you have the obj you just drop the obj on to the exe and it should make a sculpt map. However, it's not perfect so, it's all about trial and error with the obj.

nt using 7 on the machine I was trying on... and I read the other messages after I posted, so I tried dropping it and still no luck, but perhaps the obj is too complex, I'll try with something else.

It might be. If you don't have an obj creating program. Try making just a sphere. A program is [link]

I have bryce... although I tried using a shirt from DazStudio as what I am most hoping for is to create a sculpt shirt so I can make animated t shirts for Sl...

I'm somewhat afraid a shirt is simply going to be too complex

OH! I see what you were trying to do. No, obj2sculpt won't bring anything in like that. Those objects are way too complex. You have to make or try things that have a completely spherical uv map as well as no holes in them. Anything from DAZ, Content Paradise, Sharecg would most likely be too much for it.

well, I still think either my windows won't run it for some reason, because its not like it tries and fails, it just gives the error no matter what I try...

perhaps my download got corrupted

It might have gotten corrupted. But usually just dropping the obj on it makes a sculpt map in the same folder as the obj. You can also go to run, type cmd, and then navigate to the folder and type obj2sculpt yourobj.obj (replace yourobj.obj with the name of the object), and hit enter. Then it would tell you something about it.

How do you use it? :o For me it just opens a DOS window that closes after like half a second, then nothing else happens.
