well, was it your first language, and do you live in a place where you need to read it everyday?? (i think not...right?) so its perfectly unerstandable...i mean a person who learns a language even fluently, will easily forget the language once they don't use it anymore... so don't worry.^^ plus my friend says that learning kanji is quite hard (she takes chinese classes on saturdays...)....now i am scared for japanese three and four classes, cause in those classes we learn a lot of kanji...(i think..)

And I speak Hookien, not too fluently. But speaking / writing / reading are totally different things.

In fact, one would say, it's art. that's cool.^^ i am still hoping that its not too hard...some of the japanese three/four students were telling me how hard it was...but that's awaiting me. not to worry right now...right? ^^ yea when i was learning some kanji there were some stories behind them...like the kanji for gold...金...right? it has some type of story behind it...something about like planting (i think...my teacher only shortly referenced it to explain it...) but it might not be in the chinese kanji? most are taken from chinese, but not all, so this one might not be...i don't know...
