Sedgeclaw (NPC) CrescentRose3716
A dark tabby tom padded out of the warriors' den with a stretch before his eyes wandered around impatiently. Iciclepaw should be awake and ready to head out by now. "Iciclepaw!" His sharp tone rang through the camp as he padded towards the apprentice den. "Iciclepaw, get up right now or you'll never be a warrior at this rate." He mewed sharply as his tone was slightly scolding. "Well?" He hummed as his ears twitched back against his head, a frown adorning his darkly-colored maw, eyes narrowed sharply as he watched his apprentice carefully.
Iciclepaw let out a groan before he blinked his eyes open. He then widened his eyes and jumped up and quickly left the den. "Ah. I'm sorry" he mewed as he quickly fixed himself.
Sedgeclaw could only sigh at the young tom. "You should be ready to get up by now..." He meowed as he couldn't bring himself to stay made at the younger tom. His ears twitched faintly as he watched the young cat. "Make sure you eat something before we go since we're going hunting... I'm not one of those cats that'll keep it a surprise so I'll just tell you that we'll be doing your warrior assessment. I've trained you as much as I can... Only experience will do much good now." He meowed with a calm expression.
Iciclepaw blinked at him for a moment before he smiled. "Yes!" He bounced and bolted to the fishkill pile. He picked out something small. He soon finished it and padded back. "All good to go" he hummed and twitched his tail.
The large tom could only roll his eyes at the young apprentice. His energy reminded him of his past apprentice, who was named Smoketansy when he died. He gave a soft sigh and shook his head, glad to give the tom his assessment. He twitched his ears faintly as he watched Iciclepaw come back over. "Let's head out then..." He meowed calmly as he led the way out of camp. "I'll be watching you hunt from a distance but you most likely won't realize that I'm there unless I purposefully reveal myself when you finish. First... I need you to catch a bird, a mouse, and a squirrel. I want you to exercise your skills... Jumping with the bird, speed with the mouse, and climbing with the squirrel as while they don't seem important, all three of the skills can give you the upper paw in a battle as well." He meowed as he explained the tom's assessment to him.
Iciclepaw nodded and noted in his head on what he wanted. He flicked his ears and hummed. "Alright" he mewed and kept replaying his words in his head.
He gave a nod. "Then as soon as we leave camp, you may start your assessment... I'll be watching you from a distance as I already stated but you do have until sunrise to finish so take your time..." He meowed calmly to the younger tom, tail twitching lightly as he led the way out of camp.
Iciclepaw hummed and nodded. He followed him out of the camp, trying to keep himself calm and not bounce around yet. He still needed to complete it first. He hummed lightly as he then headed off to let start his assessment. He looked around after he stopped and smelled the air. "Hmmm" he hummed before he got into a hunting crouch and slowly stalked to a spot he pinpointed a scent coming from. He spotted a bird and quietly snuck before he got to a good spot and lept. His paws landed on it's back as it pinned the bird down and he killed it with a quick nip to its neck.
The dark furred tom calmly watched his apprentice from his spot in a bush, ears twitching faintly as he gave a soft hum before his ears perked as Iciclepaw caught the bird. His eyes narrowed as he tilted his head to the side, wait for what prey his apprentice will go for next. The bird was done, now all that was left was practicing his speed with catching a mouse and then climbing to get the squirrel. His ears twitched faintly as he stayed in his spot for now, simply observing but keeping out of sight like he stated earlier.
Iciclepaw buried the bird before he hummed and padded off. He eventually stopped when a new scent hit his nose and he paused as he smelled the air. He wanted to get the squirrel out of the way since he wasn’t skilled at climbing as well as the others. He followed a trail till it he caught sight of one. He smiled before he got close in a crouch before he ran towards it. It bolted into a tree and began the climb. Iciclepaw climbed after it, almost slipping slightly before he caught and killed it, climbing back down to be on solid ground and buried the prey.
Sedgeclaw gave a slow nod as he flicked his ears faintly. He jolted a bit but forced himself to stay still when he saw Iciclepaw slip when climbing the tree. He narrowed his eyes as he was ready to bolt out there if his apprentice fell. That would be difficult to explain, his apprentice getting injured on a hunting assessment because he slipped out of a tree. Snowstar would most likely scold him for something like that if it were to happen.
Iciclepaw relaxed himself. He needed to move on and get this last one. He nodded as he went through the territory before he finally located the mouse. He crept to a spot silently before he ran as quickly as he could at it. The mouse was taken by surprise as it only got a little bit away before Iciclepaw caught it. He smiled and picked it up as he went and collected the other two as well.
The dark tom padded out of his hiding spot and padded up towards the younger grey tom and flicked his tail against the younger's flank. "You passed... You scared me for a second there when you were chasing the squirrel..." He admitted with a sheepish smile, head tilting to the side. He nudged his apprentice gently with a hum. "Are you ready to be a warrior?" He mewed curiously with a tilt of his head as he gently nipped the apprentice's ear with a faint smile on his maw, head tilting to one side.
Iciclepaw nodded slowly. " honestly scared myself a little, but I wasn’t going to let it stop me or give up" he mewed and smiled. "Of course I am" he said and bounced around.
Sedgeclaw gave an amused purr at the tom's enthusiasm. "What are you excited most for when you become a warrior?" He hummed curiously as he looked over at the spotted grey tom, head tilting to one side as his golden amber eyes shined with pride at being able to finish the training with an apprentice.
Iciclepaw blinked. "I want to be able to train a apprentice like how you trained me." He hummed and flicked his ears. "That and a few other thing" he hummed.
Sedgeclaw tilted his head to the side with a thoughtful expression. " 'Other things'? Like what?" He hummed curiously at his words, ears flicking lightly as he watched Iciclepaw with a soft hum. He then let a small grin slid on his maw. "Ooooohhhh~ is there a she-cat?" He teased playfully as he batted at the tom's shoulder gently.
Iciclepaw blushed and looked at his paws. "M-maybe..." he said as he shuffled them slightly. He didn't know what else to say, but his face must have said it all.
He gave a laugh at the tom's flustered expression. "I won't pry anymore. I'll just say that I went through the same thing with Poppyheart." He mewed in amusement as he flicked his ears faintly. "Let's get back to camp... I'm sure you have someone you could tell about you passing your assessment that talking to someone like me." He teased the younger with a soft chuckle.
Iciclepaw nodded slowly. "Yeah.." he mewed and picked up the prey before he turned and started to head back. He hummed lightly and smiled as he carried the prey back.
