Foxglovesnow flicked his ears, he had been up early that dawn. Snowstar had fallen ill with many other cats. It seemed to be catching and the healer's den was full. He had returned back to camp with some catmint in his jaws. It wasn't a lot with the cold weather though he was thankful that he was able to find the very small amount. His ears perked forward as he passed back into the camp entrance and to the healer's den. Maybe his beloved mate was awake now, he hoped so. She was his shine since both his brother and sister; Chervilheart and Callawolf had left the clan. Or he had left was Harebellsky, and of course Beechlight.
Beechlight was curled up in her nest. Her she flicked her ears and raised her head as she heard pawsteps coming closer. She was about to greet him before she was interrupted by a few sneezes, while a shiver went through her. She moved her head back to her paws only to start a small coughing fit
Foxglovesnow stopped just outside the healer’s den with a frown. There was such sickness this moon already. Leaf-bare was going to be hard. Woodpaw had already passed and he hissed at loosing an apprentice so young to this sickness. He headed into the den which he was accounted with Beechlight having a small coughing fit. He opened his mouth shocked, dropping the catmint on the floor. Your sick! He thought. He wanted to angrily lash out but that wasn’t what he did. He just frowned at his mate. He didn’t want to lose her too.
Beechlight looked over to Foxglovesnow and shook her head. "I'll be alright. It's nothing to bad" she mewed as her body shivered. She laid her head on her paws and sighed before coughing a few more times.
Foxglovesnow hissed more to himself with frustration as he bent down and picked up the catmint he had been carried. He knew as a healer that she wasn't just fine, and he knew she knew that as well but was being kind to him. She was always so kind. She touched his heart, but he didn't like her being ill. He took the catmint to a hollowed out rock as he began to crush it. The herb was going to be for Snowstar, but he was going to use some of it for Beechlight. He had to give her something just to make her feel better. He crushed the catmint, adding some tansy and chamomile to help with the coughing, and build strength. He mixed the pulp together before putting it in front of his mate. Eat up, it'll make you feel better. He thought as he led down beside her.
Beechlight flicked her gaze over to him before she smiled lightly. She slowly ate it before laying her head back on her paws after she finished. Another shiver went through her body as she pressed close to him.
Foxglovesnow frowned sadly, he didn’t like this one bit. The snowy white tom pressed his body into hers, covering her to keep her warm. He could feel the heat radiating from her so she must have a fever. Hopefully the herbs will kick in soon. He wanted to tell her to sleep but he knew he couldn’t. He just nuzzled her softly.
Beechlight smiled lightly to him. "Thanks handsome" she murmured as she purred softly, which stopped as she coughed a few more times. "I owe you later" she chuckled.
Foxglovesnow smiled at his mate, his cheeks flushing warmly from her compliment. She still made him flutter inside, he hated the lack of control but he adored the feeling when he was around her. He flicked an ear from her chuckle which he gave a small smile too, though he didn’t think it was humorous. He curled his tail around hers protectively. ‘If you stay with me, you won’t owe me anything.. I would owe you my life’ he thought silently with a soft smile.
Beechlight let out a soft sigh as she felt better. At least the coughing had calmed down a little. She snuggled closer to him and pressed her face against his chest as she kept as close as she could get to him. She didn't want him to leave, but she knew he would eventually need to to help take care of the other sick clanmates. She enjoyed every moment of their time together, every moment.
Foxglovesnow looked at his mate as she gave a soft sigh, he was glad the coughing had calmed down. It meant she was able to rest. He began to groom around her ears, hoping it would help her fall asleep. He purred warmly as he groomed her, his tail curling around hers.
Beechlight let out a light purr when she felt him began to groom her. She nuzzled her head as she kept snuggled against him. "I love you" she murmured tiredly. She felt her eyes start to drop from her being exhausted from the coughing. She kept her eyes closed as she listened to his purring.
Foxglovesnow noticed her eyes close and smiled as he continued purring, though his smile faded from his worry, he soon closed his eyes as well while he continued to groom more slowly to match the rhythm of his slow purring.
Beechlight let out a soft sigh as she laid there. She listened to his purring. It was peaceful to her. She promised herself that she would make it through this, for him. She didn't want to leave him this soon, it wouldn't be right. She was going to fight to get better with all her might. She soon slipped off into a light sleep.
