I've been drawing and painting since I can remember. Everything was good as a drawing surface - paper, canvas, a piece of cardboard, notebook margins, and when supplies ran out, I sometimes resorted to reusing finished paintings in a creative frenzy - I still regret the pieces I lost this way.
When I was 15, I first became acquainted with Tolkien's works, and have been illustrating them ever since. There is enough inspiration in them to last a lifetime! My goal is to one day have made a painting for every chapter of the Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion. It's such a deep and fascinating universe.
I love using vibrant but harmonious colors, moody lighting, silhouettes and starry skies. Sometimes I go for realism, other times for a whimsical effect or a touch af the surreal.
