Planet Maker 3000 tutorial by KuldarLeement Planet Maker 3000 tutorial by KuldarLeement

It appears you don't have PDF support in this web browser. Download PDF

This tutorial is done with Photoshop CC (but it may work with CS6 too). This may actually be my first tutorial?!?
I assume that people who are going to use this action, has some experience with smart objects, actions and Photoshop (woot).
This isn't quite rookie tutorial. Also let me know if you notice any bad grammar mistakes - i can fix them :)!

This tutorial explains how this Planet Maker 3000 action works and gives you an idea, how you can edit your planet after action has completed it’s job.

Of course this tutorial comes with super-awesome-planet-making-photoshop-actions and PSD file where all this magic takes place:

Files are available HERE. Direct download is available HERE.

Using this action:
1.    Open Planet_maker_4000x2000_CC.psd file.
2.    Load Planet_maker_3000 action pack.
3.    Replace texture inside this smart object (NB! Texture must fill entire area and must be 4000x2000px @ 72dpi or it won't work as it should).
4.    Click 1_Make_planet.
5.    After making your adjustments, click 2_Render_planet. This takes some time! :) NB! Before rendering you may invert the bump texture for better result - it depends how your texture looks.

This video is just for fun:… everything is done in photoshop (planet, animation and video rendering)

Thank you for reading this!

I've been waiting for tutorials from you! There are some effects you achieve that I can't understand/figure out.
KuldarLeement Featured By Owner Mar 6, 2014
Yep, I guess i need to make some more, but actually there are lot of stuff already done so there is no point for me to make new tutorials (in case it isn't better in some way) Most of things are actually really basic, but this 3D think is like something what adobe has improved since beginning. They have even improved timeline so much that it has almost same features as in After Effects (with all those rendering features and video exporting capabilities) - if it's going to be like this every time, then I assume in future there will be only on program with all those features. Video is here: (everything is done with photoshop - planet, animating, video rendering).

I had no idea you could do stuff like that in photoshop. Crazy. What I'm curious about is those Bevel tricks for rendering armor you mentioned on your fb. :) Also your environments just look so high resolution. I'd love to know how you achieve that.
KuldarLeement Featured By Owner Mar 9, 2014
Bevel and Emboss are very powerful tools, I actually may do a tutorial about it - seems logical :)

All this high resolution is all thanks to my powerful computer and to it's rendering power. Cause you need a proper tools for larger prints - like Photoshop needs actually 10gb of ram to run smoothly and all extra ram is nessesary for your OS + a lot of hard drive space.

For example i once did an outdoor manipulation for my employer and it was like 1:10 at it's original size - 40 x 20 meters @ 120dpi and it took over 1,5 tb of hard drive space to open it in PSD (PSD file was over 15gb) - so bigger the psd file - the bigger the hard drive space needed to operate with it in Photoshop.

I'm super curious about the bevel and emboss. I would never have even considered a tool like that. I'm actually getting a ssd today so my computer won't slowdown quite so badly :). PS feels like its ready to explode at file sizes greater than 1.5 gigs. My laptop is maxed out at 8g of ram, but I think the ssd will do the trick.
KuldarLeement Featured By Owner Mar 13, 2014
Believe me - ssd is a game changer (mine opens Photoshop under ~5 seconds and it does many other great things with my pc),  but i thing file size over 1gb isn't something to look for :) My average work psd size is 1gb - most works are completed with 3 stages ak 3x1gb psd's - so i flat my works in one point and start another psd file - so it wont slow my rig down too much - but it really takes some hard drive space if you have many works :)
