As part of my readthrough of the source material for Disney's animated movies, I finally read Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (review here).  It was a good and quick read, and I must say that it was hard to revisualize these characters when Disney seems to have designed them pretty much perfectly.  They are just as described in the book.

I love your drawing. Lumiere looks like Ichabod Crane (although Lumiere has red hair and  Ichabod having  light brown hair), Cinderella as Katrina, and Gaston as Brom Bones.

Wonderful! and I totally agree with you, this is the one Adaptation Disney pulled off perfectly! :D

Right?  It's almost exact, which is unusual (though it's probably for the best that it's sometimes not).

I was realy impressed when I read the original, how close the characters where in the Disney Version.... but I agree yes, sometimes it was better that they did make some changes!

Yeah, they fit the original story and text so well.  But yeah, less literal adaptation is sometimes a very good (and necessary) thing.

Nice picture!

I never thought there'd be fanart for this cartoon.

Yeah!  Though this is technically fanart for the book, ha.

If you ask me, That girl  Katrina Van Tassel should've stood up for Ichabod Crane when that jerk-o dork Brom Van Brunt, who might have turned out to be The Headless Horseman, spooked him, instead of laughing at him. But it turns out she was too vine and picky with men.

Yes, Katrina never really had much substance, she never really even cared about Ichabod, she mostly was a flirt who was most interested in the man who was most interested in her.

Oh yes, I've read the book too! You're re-designs are perfect! They're like a mash-up of the designs I've seen on Disney and the ones on the book I read.
