There is nothing wrong with Harry Potter, you guys. She just wrote a typo. She really meant to write "Twilight".

I know! When I go to Church camp, I always have to ask people if they read Harry Potter. If they say that it's evil, I can tell that we won't get along!
danitiwa Featured By Owner Aug 14, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
rofl I have a bible thumper friend who's not allowed to read HP.
kaikou13 Featured By Owner Aug 14, 2009  Student General Artist
*facepalm* pretty sure God wouldn't drop someone into hell if they read harry potter but funny either way
Ryemm Featured By Owner Jul 29, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
Ahh, Harry Potter is a delightful sin. Haha, just think... if J.K. Rowling didn't exist, there'd be no hell... Oh well! To hell with me!

Let's see more comics with Mrs. Bittles!

"Nicole, let's see...Surrendered yourself to Christ.. Baptized...6 times? That's overdoing it...Oh whatever...Sex before marriage?! Oh wait, you asked for forgiveness...OK then...Generous, kind, forgiving...A true child of God!
Wait a second! You played Pokemon when you were a teenager! And beat the games!
I'm sorry..."
Kats-pixels Featured By Owner May 5, 2009   Digital Artist
This cracks me up.

Yeah. I got a warning from the pastor at my church for playing a Pokemon game there.

And then they kicked me out when I had a Harry Potter toy. His Owl.

"Practice your devil worshiping elsewhere! If you bring that stuff here, you'll influence the other kids! They don't deserve to go to hell because of YOUR sins!"

And you know what? I was in 6th grade.

ktshy Featured By Owner May 5, 2009  Professional Filmographer
That is insane!!! And your Picard icon totally sums up my reaction -____-
Kats-pixels Featured By Owner May 5, 2009   Digital Artist
I should have said:
"I may be sinning for liking Pokemon, but didn't Jesus say something about loving thy neighbor? I don't recall him ever saying anything about "Except Pokemon and Harry Potter fans"...
Where's the fine print?"

Haha. But all I did was say
"Fuck off"
And left.

By the way, since i now know you're gonna read this...You art is awesome, and your comics make me laugh.

fangedfallenrose Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2009
If those religious people would take the time to actually read Harry Potter they might actually find that it's not about the devil, or even god. It's about the on-going battle of good and evil, and since Harry Potter is technically speaking on the good side, I think that if there is actually a heaven, god would welcome him with open arms. I mean, he's no saint, but he's not exactly a satanic soul bent on the destruction of the church, now is he?

They're just jealous because they can't preform magic.
bob-is-my-name Featured By Owner Jan 11, 2009
that depends. you don't get into heaven for being "good."
i do think it's shtoopid for them to simply judge a book by it's cover, but i can see where they are comin' from, you know with the whole witchcraft thing. but honestly, the book did have a rather christian message, when you really look at it, but i absolutely love the books, so...... yeah. there's my unaskedfor opinion on the subject. :P
fangedfallenrose Featured By Owner Jan 12, 2009
You're right, but it does help :D

Yeah, I can kind of see where they're coming from too, but they should probably be focusing on real issues like child abuse instead of stuff like this. Especially when the books are so amazing. ^_^
bob-is-my-name Featured By Owner Jan 13, 2009
the books are one of THE most amazing things, and i definitely don't think they are anything to worry about. but i can also see where something like harry potter would worry them more than, say, child abuse. don't get me wrong, it's a horrible thing that must be stopped, but harry potter is something seemingly innocent that their children would think nothing of reading that, to them, contains all sorts of great evils, thereby poisoning their youth and damning them to hell. like a wolf in sheeps clothing.
witchcraft and sorcery are extremely controversial in the christian community (teehee, this sounds like a research paper)but in my opinion, when the bible refers to that stuff, i think they were probably talking about drugs. cuz in ancient israel, wouldn't that seem like potions and magic?
hmm. i've been rambling for a long time, so i'm gonna shutup now :D
fangedfallenrose Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2009
Yeah, they probably were talking about drugs. It amazes me how many people got high in the old-days without thinking anything of it and then blaming witchcraft for thier bad behavior.
bob-is-my-name Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2009
i know! yeah, but if you really think about it, they probably actualy thought it WAS sorcery. they simply didn't know any better. plus, as we constantly see today, they're addicting.
fangedfallenrose Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2009
Probably, it has been proven that if you don't think that something's bad for you, then what happens to you because of it will be blamed on something else. (Like the poor neighbor lady who just happened to stop in the middle of the street and gaze at your house the day before you started seeing the devil at the foot of your bed)
bob-is-my-name Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2009
like republicans and global warming.
(no offense, if you are one. it's just an observation)

-sniff- there can't possibly be anything wrong with reading harry potter, can there?
I am sad.
morikun-rinari Featured By Owner Dec 7, 2008  Student Artist
I've read Harry Potter. Maybe I should got to Hell too. Maybe not. If religious groups want ban HP, they would also have to ban other books like Snow White, Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty.

The concept of magic in HP's world is incantational magic, or fantasy/fairy tale magic. It's not the same invocational or "real" form of witchcraft that the Bible condemns. In other words, I object the statement that reading HP is your one way ticket to Hell.

oh i was already in hell when I started reading them on audiobook at work ;)

LoL, I love it!

I can't help feeling that if silly things like reading Harry Potter and other associated issues are enough to condemn you to hell when you have led an essentially virtuous life, then I really don't want to go! The type of heaven it would be actually sounds like my vision of hell! Who wants to spend eternity in a place with so many petty rules? I'd go mad and start butchering angels or something... So it's a good thing I'm not going there ;)

It would be fun to use Mrs. Bittles often... see what else she does across the cosmos and the afterlife. Or maybe it's just fun to say the name "Mrs. Bittles."

guess I'm going to hell.... I wonder if the level of hell your sent to depends on how many of the books you've read because if that was so I'd be in the 6th level right now soon to be joining many in the 7th level.
