Prairiemon's Rescue!

June 2001. Tokyo, Japan. Hayley and Kari (along with their partners) were walking along the shore.

"So Davis kept on sending you love letters while out of school for the summer, huh?" asked Hayley.

"Yeah," said Kari. "Sometimes, he can be annoying."

"Like your brother?"

"Well, not exactly, but---"

"Davis and Tai are only related to each other, as far as I can tell," said Gatomon.

"True, but in a good way..." said Orcamon.

They were on their way home, when suddenly...

"Hey, Hayley..." said Kari. "Do--- do you see that?"

Hayley gasped, "Oh, my gosh!"

"A Digimon!" Gato and Orca exclaimed.

"And it's offshore!" Gatomon finished.

"Come on!" said Kari.

Everyone rushed off shore as fast as they could. Eventually, it WAS a wild Digimon, lying on the ground.

"Gee," said Hayley. "I don't know how that Digimon got here. Poor thing..."

"I know who that Digimon is," said Orcamon.

"Who is it?" asked Kari.

"That Digimon is a Prairiemon."

"A Prairiemon?" asked Hayley.

"Yeah, a Prairiemon. I think it's probably a male and an evolutionary form of Patamon."

"He sure is..." said Kari, feeling him. She gasped, "And he's been sunburned!"

"That's strange..." said Gatomon. "What should we do?"

Just then, Kari had an idea.

"A-ha!" she snapped. "Let's bring him to my house and take care of him. That way, he'll tell us why he came here in the first place!"

"Right!" said the three.

With that, the gang carried the prairie dog-like Digimon and dragged him all the way to the Highton View Terrace where Kari, and her brother, Tai, live. When they arrived, Kari gave him an examination while Hayley gave dried him up with a towel. Prairiemon was finally in full conscious.

"Wh-whoa... Dude... Wha--- what happened to me, brah? What's goin' on, here?" he said, feeling dazed and confused.

"You've been washed offshore and we had to rescue you," said Hayley, still drying him up with a towel (since he was still wet).

"Washed offshore, eh?" he replied. "Man, that don't sound that promising... HOLY COW, MAN! I'm sunburned!" He patted himself on the head saying, "Stupid me! Ow..."

"It IS promising, Prairiemon," said Kari, checking his heartbeat with a stethoscope she was wearing. "That's why thought about you after you got lost and were nowhere to be found."

"Oh," said Prairiemon. "Now I see, brah..."

As Kari checked his lungs, front (tummy, chest, arms, etc.) and back, (shoulders, neck, elbows, etc.) Prairemon kept on talking.

"Dudettes, I've just realized somethin'! I remembered the day when I was born as a Patamon. Heck, man... I knew I enjoyed bein' one 'til I had--- uh--- I dunno, but... I guess I'd call it uh--- Digivolve or somethin'... And when I turned myself into Prariemon, I was like--- WHOA! And you gals were like--- WHOA! And you two Digipals were like--- whoa... Heh, well, same thing, y'know what I'm sayin' n' stuff? And then I'd be like--- dudes, guess what?!! I'm gonna head on to da beach and have some fun with all my Digidudes out there, yah! So I jumped in the the ocean, the mountain air breeze, the smooth-sailin' seawater, the bright-dazzlin' sun, the---"

"OH, FOR THE LOVE OF GENAI--- WILL YOU PLEASE SKIP THE BORING PARTS AND SAY WE FOUND YOU?!!!" Gatomon growled. "MY GOSH!"

"Okay! Okay! You dudes found me. There, I'm finished."

"Wow," said Orcamon. "Y'know, as it turns out, I think you must be one cool dude, Prairiemon."

"Duuuuuuuuuuuuude...." said Priariemon. "Excellent compliment, Orcamon!"

He gave the orca-like Digimon a high five and a shaka.

"Well, as far as I'm concerned about you," said Kari, "your heartbeats, lungs, feet, and the rest of your body are looking very normal. You must be one brave soul!"

"Hey, thanks--- uh--- what's your name, gal?"

"Glad you've asked--- my name's Kari."

"I'm Hayley," she said. "And I believe you've known Orcamon, already. And that's Kari's partner, Gatomon."

"How'd you do?" she asked. "Oh, and sorry for my yelling."

"Yo, no worries," he said to her. "It's totes cool, Gato-brah!"

"Yep," she said but then felt surprised. "Uh--- did you just call me 'Gato-brah'?"

"Uh--- chy'eah! Go figure!" he chuckle-snorted.

"Is it just me, or is this Digimon sounding like Steve Urk---"

"Anyhow, Prairiemon..." Kari interrupted. "How about we put some kind of lotion on your skin?"

"Whoa! Cool, brah!" he hyped up for a moment. "What kinda lotion?"

"I have some aloe vera lotion in my bag," said Hayley.

"Great idea, Hayley!" Kari agreed.

The two rubbed their hands with some aloe vera lotion together and applied it all over Prairiemon's body. Kari instructed her carefully to target all of his body parts so his skin would be feeling fresh and smooth after a very rough ride for him.

"So how do you feel, now?" asked Kari.

"Man," he said, "I dunno what to say, but--- I feel--- AWESOME!"

"Good. And next time, put on some sunscreen on your body, okay?"

"Ch'eauh, okay! Still, I feel AWESOME!"

"And speaking of 'AWESOME'---" said Hayley, "I think I'd like you to be my new partner. What do you say, dude?"

"That'd be totally radical, Hay! I'm all in with ya!"

"YAY!" she cheered.

"How 'bout a high five?" he asked.

"A hug?" she said.

"Oof!"

Hayley bear-hugged hum like a stuffed doll.

"Or I guess a hug would do," he said, hugging back.

Everyone else laughed.

"Oh, Prairiemon!" said Hayley.

And so, Hayley found a new friend after she, Kari, and others, rescued him from the dangerous, heart-pounding waves of heck! Now with him as her new partner, nothing could stop Hayley from meeting her new friends between earth and the incredible--- Digital World!
