September 2000. Tokyo, Japan. At Hayley's place, Mimi and Palmon were visiting Hayley and her friends. And with her accepted request given to her parents, Mimi and Palmon were delighted to stay overnight with Hayley, and have some fun together after a grueling first week back at school. While Mimi stayed, she gave Hayley a wonderful bath, and a relaxing massage so the little girl would feel fresh and clean as a daisy. And at nighttime, inside Hayley's room, Hayley was getting ready for bed. So were Mimi and Palmon.

"Hey, Mimi?" asked Hayley.

"Mmm-yes?" she sang.

"Would you read me a bedtime story, please?"

"Oh, of course, I'd love to!"

Mimi grabbed a couple of books from Hayley's bookshelf.

"Oh, Palmon!" Mimi called. "Gather everyone around. It's story time!"

"Oh, boy!" Palmon smiled with glee.

She went out of Hayley's room for the moment and bellowed for everyone to come.

"Hey, everybody! It's story time! C'mon! Let's gather around!"

The Rookie and In-Training Digimon cheered as they hurried on their way to Hayley's room. Those include Liollmon, BlackGatomon, Orcamon, Syakomon, Floramon, and---

"Hah... Seriously?"

---Gazimon. He walked slowly as a snail as the gang gathered with Mimi, Palmon and Hayley on her bed.

"Everybody comfy?" asked Mimi.

"Yes, Mimi!" they said.

"Oh, yeah, sure..." said Gazimon. "Whatever ya say..."

"Good," said Mimi. "Because I'm about to read you one of my favorite children's books! Now, which ones do you want me to read?"

She took out the following books.

"We can choose either Jack & Jill, Humpty Dumpty, or--- Goldilocks & the Three Bears."

"I'd choose that egg guy who got his death wish!" Gazimon cackled.

"Gazimon!" Liollmon growled, conking him in the head.

"That was so adolescent!"

"And rude," said Floramon. "Don't forget rude."

"Heh, whatever," said Gazimon. "By the way, if any of you puke are Humpty Dumpty, I'd rather---"

"Uh, Hayley?" Mimi asked.

"I wanna hear Goldilocks & the Three Bears!" she said.

"Hmm..." Mimi pondered. "Okay, those in favor of Goldie and the Bears, say 'aye!'"

"Aye!" they said.

"Those oppose say 'no.'"

"Negative!" said Gazimon.

"In the opinionated vote, the ayes have it on Goldilocks & the Three Bears!"

"Yay!" they cheered except Gazimon.

"Oh, pfft! Whatever."

"Gaz..." said BG. "Show some respect."

"Yeah, yeah, pfft."

"Alright," said Mimi, "here we go."

Mimi opened the book and began reading this timeless classic; based on a British fairy tale by Robert Southey.

"Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks. She went for a walk in the forest. Pretty soon, she came upon a house. She knocked, and when no one answered, she walked right in. At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge. Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl. 'This porridge is too hot!' she exclaimed. So she tasted the porridge from the second bowl. 'This porridge is too cold,' she said. So she tasted the last bowl of porridge. 'Ah... this porridge is just right,' she said happily and ate it all up."

Hayley and the gang laughed.

"Whatever," said Gazimon.

Mimi continued reading on.

"After she'd eaten the three bears' breakfasts, she decided she was feeling a little tired. So she walked into the living room where she saw three chairs. Goldilocks sat in the first chair to rest. 'This chair is too big!' she exclaimed. So she sat in the second chair. 'This chair is too big, too!' she whined. So she tried the last and smallest chair. 'Ah... this chair is just right,' she sighed. But just as she settled down into the chair to rest, it broke into pieces!"

"Uh-oh!" said Hayley.

"Indeed, Hayley, indeed," said Mimi.

"Okay, what does 'clink, clank, clunk!' even mean?" Gazimon asked. "I don't know about you guys, but I think this is a complete waste of---"

"Will you stop?!!" Liollmon growled at his face.

"Um..." Gazimon gulped. "Uh, please continue, toots."

"Thank you, Gazimon."

Mimi continued on with the story.

"Goldilocks was very tired by this time, so she went upstairs to the bedroom. She lay down in the first bed, but it was too hard. Then she lay in the second bed, but it was too soft. Then she lay down in the third bed and it was just right. Goldilocks fell asleep."

Hayley and the gang laughed.

"Whatever," said Gazimon.

Mimi continued.

"As she was sleeping, the three bears came home. 'Someone's been eating my porridge!' growled Papa bear. 'Someone's been eating my porridge,' said Mama bear. 'Someone's been eating my porridge and they ate it all up!' cried Baby bear. 'Someone's been sitting in my chair!' growled Papa bear. 'Someone's been sitting in my chair,' said Mama bear. 'Someone's been sitting in my chair and they've broken it to pieces!' cried Baby bear. They decided to look around some more and when they got upstairs to the bedroom, Papa bear growled, 'Someone's been sleeping in my bed!' 'Someone's been sleeping in my bed, too!' said Mama bear. 'Someone's been sleeping in my bed and she's still there!' exclaimed Baby bear."

"Ooh..." Hayley and the gang said.

"Heh!" said Gazimon. "Sound like Goldie Hawn's committed house robbery like a---"

"Quiet, Gazimon!" Floramon shouted at him.

"Yes, Gazimon!" said Syakomon. "Get with the groove, matey!"

"Fine, sorry," he moaned. "Continue on."

"Thank you, Gazimon," Mimi cleared her throat.

Mimi read the final words of the story.

"Just then, Goldilocks woke up. She saw the three bears. She screamed, 'Help!' And she jumped up and ran out of the room. Goldilocks ran down the stairs, opened the door, and ran away into the forest. She never returned to the home of the three bears. The end."

As Mimi closed the book, everyone cheered and applauded.

"Yay!" said Hayley. "That was a great story, Mimi."

"And how cute Goldilocks was..." Wanyamon sighed.

"Didn't I tell y'all, she committed crime?" Gazimon said. "I mean, she's a convict, and the bears could've place her as citizen's arre---"

"WE DON'T CARE, GAZIMON!!!" all Digimon shouted at him.

"Ah..." Gazimon moped, "Whatever."

"Okay, everyone..." she said. "Time to go to bed."

"Aw..." said almost everyone.

"Good," said Gazimon. "'Cause I deserve some shut-eye, dreamin' about Humpty Dumpty committing---"

"We know, Gaz..." said BG. "We know."

All of Hayley's Digimon partners got up and said their good nights to Hayley, Mimi and Palmon, and left the room.

"Well, good night, guys," said Palmon, tucking herself in her sleeping bag.

"Night, Palmon!" said both Hayley and Mimi.

"Yes, Hayley?"

"Would you sing me a lullaby, please?"

"Sure thing."

Mimi sat on Hayley's bed and the little girl sat on the big girl's lap. And as Mimi began stroking Hayley's hair, she sang...

"Rock-a-bye, Hayley, on the treetop... When the wind blows, the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall... And down will come Hayley, cradle and all."

As Hayley began to fall asleep, her head was laid onto Mimi's chest, hearing her heartbeats.

*Thump-thump* *Thump-thump*

Finally, Mimi tucked her in her blankets, and kissed her on the head. She then tucked herself in her sleeping bag, donned an eye mask for her eyes, and went to sleep. Yet again, so did all the Digimon in Hayley's house. And they all lived happily ever after.
