Given we're since been shown how durable pure Beskar is, it retroactively makes the widespread inclusion of vibroblades in KOTOR's era very sensible. The Republic military would've seen firsthand how difficult the Mandalorian's are to take out at range and so the best thing to do is outfit their troops with blades to give them more of a fighting chance at getting at the gaps in their armor once they've gotten into close quarters.
