OpenCL - big image test by KrzysztofMarczak OpenCL - big image test by KrzysztofMarczak
Image rendered with development version of Mandelbulber-OpenCL program. This was a test how it works with large images. Image in resolution 12800x9600 on GPU was rendered in 280s. On CPU it was 20 hours! Small image (800x600) was rendered on GPU in 0.6s (on CPU 110s)

Used GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

This is sweet.  I kind of wish they would just integrate 3D fractal generators with all of the new GPU renderers.  I t would make my current task a lot easier for sure.  I was wondering if you'd experimented at all with integrating 3D fractal generators with 3D application created content, like within Maya?  Also I was wondering if you know of any 3D fractal generator that outputs vector displacement maps along with low res. meshes?

I didn't tried those stuff because programs like Maya are horribly expensive. I prefer to create my own rendering software or to use some OpenSource.

Wow, huge time differences! Greatly looking forward to this, but I'm gonna need a new GPU!

I'll add this to the list of excuses to get one of the new Radeon HD 9000 series. ;)
