Questa è una grande illustrazione per la doppia pagina di apertura del capitolo sulla fantascienza di un'antologia, edita dalla Rizzoli. Non avendo avuto indicazioni sul soggetto da parte dell'autore o del redattore, ho deciso di ispirarmi a quello che è un po' la storia di fantascienza per antonomasia: 2001 - Odissea nello Spazio (tratto dal racconto "La Sentinella" di Arthur C. Clarke). La "nuvola" bianca prende il posto della grafica del libro, non è un errore né tantomeno è parte dell'illustrazione.
Non immaginate quanto ho dovuto insistere col redattore per convincerlo che il risultato finale sarebbe stato sufficientemente scenografico...

First of all: yes, I'm alive.

Sort of.

This is a big illustration for the science fiction chapter pening spread from an anthology book, published by Rizzoli. The author or the editor didn't give me any particular subject to illustrate, so I decided to take a shot at what is arguably the epitome of science fiction: 2001 - A Space Odyssey (which is an adaptation of short story "The Sentinel" by Arthur C. Clarke). That white "cloud" down there is where the book graphics would go, so that's nor a mistake nor part of the illustration.
You cannot imagine how much I had to insist with the editor to persuade him that the final result was going to look spectacular enough...
