Cesare to Michelotto
Juny 25th 1497
~~~
As you already know, my brother Juan is the reason for everything going wrong. I am a cardinal and thus I cannot follow my true destiny, id est, being a conqueror. The might of the Borgia has to be extended in Europe; the mercenaries of the Orsini would follow me as their duke.
You know your instructions, my faithful Michelotto, I'll entrust you with it all.
Michelotto to Cesare
Juny 29th 1497
~~~
Your wish is an order, my lord. Alone I know your future might; serving you is everything I desire, even if my hands become bloodstained.

Cesare to Michelotto
July 10th 1497
~~~
Fine! Do it next week. Donna Vannozza will be holding a dinner in her garden, I'll be expecting you there at 10 pm.
Michelotto to Cesare
July 17th 1497
~~~
My beloved lord, everything went as you wished. Juan didn't foresee anything. When he took his horse and rode away towards the setting sun, I followed him silently together with a few thugs. We caught him up in the village; he was surprised to meet me.
His young face lit by the pale moonlight only, an image of fear. He had no time to fight; I finished it all quickly and after it, we threw the corpse into the Tiber. I guess a fisherman saw us - note me, if I should see about it.
In love with you forever, my lord. Your faithful assassin Don Michelotto Corella

The story is based on a true event: in summer of 1497, Juan Borgia, Duke of Gandia, was murdered and his corpse was found in the Tiber. He was son of Pope Alexander VI., and member of the Borgia family who ruled Rome from 1492 to 1503.
But it is not certain that his brother Cesare Borgia was responsible for that murder. So my description is actually fictional.
It's known though, that Cesare Borgia had a friend named Michelotto/Miguel da Corella, who was an assassin, murdering people for his lord Cesare.

Nice interpretations of these historical figures. I have a feeling you've heard, seen, or maybe even read the manga Cantarella by You Higuri and maybe got some inspiration for the character designs from there? It's a good manga, but I stoped reading after about 3 volumes. It was getting too adult for me. X3 Maybe I'll just give myself a couple more years. XD

Absolutely gorgeous. Haven't read the manga, but I love the historical Cesare Borgia, and the portayal in your letters in the description of his relation with Michelotto is magnificent!

I love the lightning in this one, it's got such an eerie feel to it! The calm expression of the guy with the sword to his throat is so cool :D

Cool! I'm reading the manga too, the German version, and was quite surprised to see Michelotto here on your page. He was the one that caught my eye because of his mask. I never thought I would see him on dA, lol.
