Trainer meme : Ru Takenouchi

My Facebook art group had a thing this month called Pokemon MAYnia, and...that's what I'd been working on this whole month (more or less XD; ). It seemed a shame to not use the pics I'd drawn after I'd shooped them together in Photoshop for the prompts in the group, so...I decided to fill in this meme for both my trainer-characters, finally  

Ru (Rae is her English nickname) was my first Pokemon OC, and I believe I'd posted stuff about her before in my other account, but for those who're new, and to summarize her bio thus far, here it is again~

Name: Kaoru Takenouchi
Nickname: Ru
Other names: Opal Lynden (manga counterpart); Raven Lynd (English)
D.o.B: August 5
Hobbies: Pokemon training, swimming, reading
Likes: Spicy food, balmy summer days, comfy shoes, minty hot chocolate
Dislikes: People who don't seem to cherish their Pokemon
Family: Takenouchi Sakura/Sara Lynd (mother); Takenouchi Kazuya/Kenneth Lynd (father); Akito/Ace (brother).

Brief History:
Kazuya was a Ranger in the Fiore region, later becoming a research assistant to Professor Rowan in Sinnoh; Sakura used to be a trainer who later started helping out at a Pokemon daycare. So it was no surprise that their kids became interested in working closely with Pokemon - an interest both parents encouraged. Ru and her brother Aki started out their journey together, but went their separate ways soon after defeating the Johto League. As she grew older, the auburn-haired trainer spent more and more time in each region, not just applying what her mother had taught her about battling alongside her Pokemon (something Sakura had learned from Chuck, Cianwood gym leader) and therefore using that time to be as close as possible to her team members, but really getting to know the places she visited. 

After becoming Champion of the Sinnoh region, she actually lived out her role for a time instead of simply continuing to the next region. Eventually, she did travel to Isshu, where she and a new friend - breeder Marts Aspin - worked together to bring down a group calling themselves, simply, 'The Syndicate' (a precursor to Team Plasma, in the pair's opinion). She spent two years there, eventually becoming more field researcher than trainer during that time. Her research continues in the Kalos region, where she runs into an acquaintance - Shigeru (Gary), who had apparently visited the region for further study.

Name: Gou 
Species: Flareon
Characteristic: Likes to run
Moveset: Lava Plume | Flame Charge | Flamethrower | Fire Blast
Gou evolved from the Eevee that Ru received from her father before Kazuya left to assist Professor Rowan, and has been with her since the beginning of her journey. In a way, he was Ru's second 'starter', since she'd received a Charmander from Professor Oak around the same time. 

Name: Suzaku
Species: Blaziken
Characteristic: Proud of its power
Moveset: Flare Blitz | Sky Uppercut | Blaze Kick | Power-up Punch
Ru's first Pokemon in the Hoenn region, and among her most powerful. Ru sometimes would serve as a sparring partner for this Pokemon to practice his speed and power. He can get a little excited when in a new place, pushing to come out of his Pokeball.

Name: Reiki
Species: Ninetales
Characteristic: Likes to thrash about
Moveset: Confuse Ray | Overheat | Incinerate | Will-O-Wisp
Ru received Reiki as a Vulpix from fellow Champion and breeder Marts, who thought the little fox would be a good addition to her team. Reiki was Ru's only companion when she started her second journey through Isshu.

Name: Yurei
Species: Chandelure
Characteristic: Alert to sounds
Moveset: Flamethrower | Confuse Ray | Will-o-Wisp | Hex
The pair first met in Dragonspiral Tower, when Yurei was still a Litwick. At first a weak yet determined Pokemon, the Ghost/Fire type gradually became one of the strongest members of the team. She sometimes dozes off when traveling out of the Pokeball.

Name: Satou
Species: Luxray
Characteristic: Highly curious
Moveset: Volt Switch | Thunder | Discharge | Thunder Fang
One of the first two Pokemon Ru first met in the Sinnoh region. The happy-go-lucky Shinx was a little too curious and injured himself, and that was how Ru came across him soon after leaving Professor Rowan's lab. He used to sport a 'punk' hairdo. Volt Switch | Thunder | Discharge | Thunder Fang

Name: Yuki
Species: Weavile
Characteristic: A little quick-tempered
Moveset: Night Slash | Dark Pulse | Blizzard | Ice Beam
While scouting Lake Acuity for signs of Team Galactic, Ru came across this rather moody Sneasel. She is speedy and agile, and another capable fighter on Ru's team. They trust each other, and it was during Ru's travels to Isshu that Yuki evolved into her current form, while slowly becoming closer with her trainer.

Other Details
- the pendant Ru wears reminds her of a stylized 'wild flame'-like design; she still keeps the original red one, but had a replacement made, colored white, before she went to Kalos
- she used to tote a backpack around, switching to a messenger bag in the middle of her journey in Isshu. The pokeball-shaped pin is still present.
- she likes the colors red and purple

Important note for members of the pokemon-battle-saga group! Ru is the Fire-type gym leader in Vermilion City, BUT the team in this meme isn't the same as her gym leader team.
