Padfoot Portrait by KrisCynical Padfoot Portrait by KrisCynical
I mentioned having started this a few weeks ago, I believe, and I just now had time to actually finish it tonight. I wanted to do a nice portrait of Sirius Black with the "no lines" Photoshop technique, so here it is. I had to put it away for about three weeks because of moving and school starting and all, but the indoor-time because of Frances provided the down time to finish it.

I experimented with creating pattern in Photoshop since I had never done it before in order to make the scarf look like it was knit instead of being one solid piece of fabric... I think it worked pretty well for a first try. More experimenting shall come in the future, I'm sure.

Aww, my favorite HP character! I fell out of love with the series after his death, and I really should get around to reading the rest of the books someday. Not every volume gets to be the best one, right?

I fell out of the fandom after OOTP for the same reason, but I still read the next three books as soon as they came out. You really do need to read the rest of them because that's when shit gets real.

With all this Broadway Series art completely forgot the reason I even found your art was that it was linked on a Harry Potter website somewhere! You do such great Harry Potter Characters too! You are great!

I love it!!! The texture thingy you did on the scarf was really good. Looks like something my Grandma would knit, it's that good. The snowflakes are really nifty. I LOVE the eyes. Good job!

it's great really^^ but well, the right part of the scarf just kinda seems to end... and not have... um... yeah, i dont know how to say it. mebbe if you made it look more like it curved backed around so it seemed like it was dangling over his right shoulder and that's why you dont see that end. also, hmm... it's prolly the scarf, but his face looks kinda... wonky..? mebbe it's the shading, i dunno, the right part keeps doing this trick on my eyes where sometimes the scarf is in front and sometimes his neck/chin are in front and it's weirding me out, like tripping, dood. wow, now i feel bad. hahaha, hope you dont take offense at a horrible artist making criticism on your awesome work, but that's just what i see, ya know? anyway, the no lines effect is awesome and i am still and forever will be jealous of your skills ;_;

1. The ends of the scarf are tucked into the coat. I counted on the eyes subconsciously finishing the picture for the viewer as that's a common technique for artists to use, but I guess not.

2. The left side of the chin is behind the scarf. In the pose, the shoulders are forward a little and the head is back slightly. In the original pencil, the chin is partially behind the scarf on that side since the torso is turned to the right slightly.

3. If you rotate your shoulders to your left slightly but keep your face forward, you'll see that if you were wearing a poofy scarf, the right side of your chin would be behind the portion of the scarf coming over your right shoulder while the left side of your chin would be in front of the scarf.

Mind you I'm not being short or pissedl; it's just very late and we've been having a hurricane party over a game of Shanghai Rummy. >_<

:) It looks awesome! Now, I know we talked about Sirius Black before, but I don't believe that I ever asked you why you call him "Padfoot"? I hope Frances is treating you alright! :)

LOL. Okay. I'll write it down in my 'to read' booklist. Btw...now that we're making recommendations...I know you like Eddie Izzard and I have a feeling you said you liked Monty Python at some point, or if not, I'm just associating the sense of humor. Anyway, if you do like that kind of sense of humor, let me recommend you read "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde. He's a welsh (british raised) author who's just coming out now. He's got a website. [link] His sense of humor is sooo amazing! I picked up The Eyre Affair for a bit of light reading while I was on my one week of vacation on the beach. After that, I had to pick up the second installment int he series and now I'm on the third. He has a fourth out there. But, oh my, trust me...just take a look at his website and you're going to see the kind of humor this guy has. I have a feeling you'd appreciate the book. :)
