I had a dream,
There was simply darkness,
Shadows danced across the walls, ceiling, floor,
Lunging at me
Withdrawing at the last second.
Clouds of black smoke
Licked at my heels and wrists
Inflicting burning agony wherever they touched.
The mocking laughter
Getting ever louder,
The smoke twists further along my limbs,
Twisting around my chest,
Engulfing me in a sharp, burning hug.
And suddenly I was released.
I fell to my knees,
The laughing had stopped.
No... it had changed.
A soft, amused giggle came from somewhere in the shadows.
A young woman came into view,
Blood dripping from her naked flesh,
Her arms, legs and chest dripping.
My fear began to build,
I recognized this woman from somewhere.
A demon buried deep in my mind.
But as she took a step forwards,
I also felt relief, that I was safe with this woman despite her grotesque appearance.
My lips twisted, a fleeting smile.
And then the smoke was back,
Swallowing me up, searing pain burning my flesh
