(Warning. Some of what I'm going to say may not make any sense unless you are an MLP fan)

Was watching the credits of My Little Pony Friendship is magic and saw my name in the credits. Wow... just wow. Words cannot express how honored and happy I am to be part and credited to such a great show as this. This is the first time I saw my name mentioned on TV. It may be just a white text in a black background but gosh damn is it worth it. Now I can tell my future kids that I was part of that show.

Speaking of Ponies, I've been looking into this 4chan my friend mentioned to me and I'm surprised to see a great number of fans into MLP especially guys. Well most of the artists who helped in the show were guys and also became big fans of the show. And just like /co/ we also went through so much denial and confusion until we finally accepted that we loved MLP.

But that's not what I wanted to talk about. I want to talk about a special incidental pony who was affectionately named by fans as Derpy. Its kind of mind blowing to think that just one weird incident in Episode 1 can spawn a entire fanbase in a matter of weeks.

But you may or may not know but Derpy has a few relatives that are also seen in the background with a derpy-sorta look. There are two of them and both are in the same scene and the same episode (Episode 5 Griffon the Brush Off ). It happens when Fluttershy is running away from Gilda after she yelled at her. As the camera follows Fluttershy, a yellow pony with pink hair is seen with a weird shocked expression. She is not very noticeable unless you actual stop the scene midway and look closely at her. As the scene goes further, before Fluttershy flies away, a purple pony with yellow hair is also seen with her eyes crooked and her mouth agape. When I first saw this at the office, I was shocked and I was even more shocked that it was still there in the actual show.

Call them easter eggs, accidental or not, they can be very entertaining. It also means that the animators have a sense of humor.

Well that's enough MLP for now. I'll come back and update you guys another time. I'll be posting some deviations soon so look forward to that. I'll also been planning of starting a new Original Webcomic series. Hopefully when I finally get a break, I'll get working on that. And its almost going to be my Birthday! Wohoo! Happy birthday to me!

Anyways cya around folks. Have a merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

According to fanfic, Derpy has a daughter name "Dinky Hooves" [link]
What I want to know is, is she an atcual backround character? Or was she just created by a fan and spread across the internet?

The Flash-ness of modern animation (if "modern animation" is from 2003 onwards, and network TV only) bothers me more than anything.

Nine out of ten shows gives the viewer the impression that it is a WEBCOMIC, not an actual animation, being watched. >.>

MLP breaks the mold by not conforming to the newer, worser, standards. Thank you for doing it the RIGHT way :D

I love animation in itself, and handdrawn stuff always beats the CGI.

I have never heard of My Little Pony before. Not familiar with a lot of shows lately as I have been more focused into school and PC video games as of late taking up my time. xD I really should look that up sometime and see if I can find it on a TV schedule. Sounds interesting!

/co/mrade here, just wanted to thank you personally for helping be a part of this awesome piece of animation. It's great to see a good, old-fashioned cartoon for once these days. And actually animated, not CGI for once!

Thanks but you should thank Lauren Faust. It was her great idea. I'm just glad being a part of it.

So you're an artist for the show? That's pretty danged neat, and now I understand the recent set of human versions. (Aw, but no little boy Spike?) When I first heard there was a new MLP, and especially that it would be airing on a network owned by a toy company, it sounded fishy. Now I have to admit that the show is extremely well written and beautifully animated — it's not "a half-hour commercial" like I first suspected.

I even picked some clips of characters walking and compared them to examples in The Animator's Survival Guide, and it seems like the animators strive for realism.

Just be prepared for all the Bronies you'll be hearing from now. :)

haha yeah no human spike yet but look forward to it. I can't just think of a good look for Spike.

Yeah I know what you mean. When I first heard we were going to do MLP, I was like "Oh god no. I hate girly shows" Then all of a sudden after watching the first episode I was like "Ummm its not bad" Then I was like "Its kind of interesting" Then I was like "I can't believe I like this stuff" And finally I was "MUST DRAW MLP STUFF" hahaha

We strive to make the animation less flashy as possible and I'm glad it turn out great!

It is much more of an action show than a "girly" show, slightly reminiscent of The Powerpuff Girls. The ponies aren't put in contrived situations and doing a lot of preaching. Things happen and need to be dealt with; and it's a fun and funny process. It's clear that you care quite a bit about the content, but the animation and effects are better than most of what's on today, and the voice acting is terrific.

Sure, Twilight Sparkle does that "Mork calling Orson" thing with the letters to Princess Celestia at the end of each episodes, but that's a small, concise recap of what was learned while enjoying the show itself. If I watch it, scrutinize the details some more, I could probably find other things that make it different and more attractive to different age groups. The "Benny Hill chase scene" and Pinkie Pie's imitation of Pepé Le Pew were hilarious!

So if Hasbro wants to make a fantastic show like this, then I'm happy they'll make good money on the merchandizing. It's just nice to see that the series itself is so good that it could probably bring in great advertising money as well.

Thank you for your great comments. Yeah MLP is exactly how you said it is and it will only get better in the upcoming episodes. It was a joy working on it and it even a greater joy that people enjoy it.

If you can, whenever the show ends, the credits are shrunk to show some commercials. There is a video on youtube where you can see the credits properly. Hope you remember my real name ^^

Ahahaha! I'd seen the purple pony but not the yellow one until you pointed it out! Thanks!

And I just noticed that all three are pegasi so far.

Is it possible that someone working on the show likes Derpy just as much as /co/, and decided to have some fun?
