What is a Mythical Creature?
A mystical, mythical, or legendary creature is a creature from mythology or folklore (often known as "fabulous creatures" in historical literature). Examples of legendary creatures can be found in medieval bestiaries. Many mythical creatures have supernatural powers (some good, some evil), powers that even in contemporary times have no physical explanation. In these cases the creatures bear more similarity to spiritual beings, such as angels, in religious thought. Often legendary creatures came to symbolize vices or virtues, or the power of good or evil.
Anthro Mythical Creatures
Being that a mystical or mythical creature is conjured by the soul imagination of it's creator, it can be truly anything however when you say mythical, it usually refers to a God or Goddess or a mythical creature that comes from lore or popular stories. Like Anubis in Egyptian beliefs.
There's some confusion as to whether Mythical creatures counts as Anthro. Why? Because they are usually more human then animals or don't meet the requirements to be considered anthro. However, most lore and mythical creatures are based of human figures / personification and has the attribution of human form. Therefore they would be considered Anthro. Though they might have more human characteristics to them, they would still be considered Anthro under the basic definition of what Anthropomorphic art is.
