The Breloom Swagger! by Kosmotiel The Breloom Swagger! by Kosmotiel
For the Pokemon gen III Collaboration on Game-Art-HQ Our POKEMON Generation III Tribute (131/270)
Update 11.03.2018
Almost 4 weeks and over 120 of the 270 possible slots are taken already with almost 50 Pokemon illustrations already drawn!
This made it by far the fastest growing one of our Pokemon Tributes since we started in March 2016.
Its great to see that more than the half of the artists that participated in our Gen I & II Projects before were returning already in the first weeks while we also got new artists on board that saw our journal here being mentioned in your descriptions. I also updated this journal to make it easier now to see which Pokemon did not get any claims yet
Beside the work here on dA, I was also creating the main gallery for this tribute on Game-Art-HQ.com already and we are going to fill the 130 (empty) individual galleries that are almost completely done already with content starting in the first February week!
Thanks a lot everyone for participating in this big series of Pokemon tribute, please continue to share the word about

Alongside Breloom,  I contributed Altaria  and Swablu to the collab. Clearly you can see what my favourite evolution line from this gen is.
Altaria Sings! by Kosmotiel Astonishing Swablu! by Kosmotiel

I choose Breloom since I thought its design looks pretty dinosaur like. Fluffy dinosaurs are the best hahaha. I thought it would be fun to play around with for my style, and it was! Drawing it in a swagger made it all the better.

I also participated in the Gen II Collaboration: www.game-art-hq.com/113885/the…

That's a great drawing you did there. You had a good idea representing him that way :)

Thank you. ^^ Breloom always looked either a kangaroo or dinosaur to me, and I like drawing dinos so I took the opportunity haha.

Ooh sweet! I don't draw as many dinosaurs as I should honestly. Unless if you count birds which would mean I draw heaps of dinosaurs. haha

Thank you. ^^

Welcome, and as a matter of fact, Birds are classified as theropods!! Which means they're dinosaurs, as a FACT!! Yay!! All modern day avians are reptiles with modified flight and thermoregulatory scales (i.e. feathers).

Yes! I hope the fact that birds are dinosaurs gets more spread into the media. It's something that needs to be updated honestly. They're still bringing out toys with descriptions stating that birds are related, which is really dated tbh. Haaah, and they never feather theropods enough or give them the correct arm anatomy. I must say, I'm really happy about Saurian and the Beasts of the Mesozoic line of figurines. I defs want to buy one of those later.

Yeah birds as reptiles just wants to make you redefine the meaning of reptile really, it's a much broad classification of animals then most think.

Totally. It's just that the older version of classification is still alive, now we know that one species emerges from another. Science needs a lot of redefining to do and pop-culture needs a lot of catching up to do. And not to mention that newer pop-culture games and movies that come out aren't really helping with updating the public's depiction of dinosaurs. They still see them as bipedal scaly lizards. And they're very shrinkwrapped too.

It shocked me when I saw a raptor puzzle branded by the Discovery Channel and it looked like a Jurassic park velociraptor at the store a few weeks ago. I mean, Discovery Channel?? That's supposed to be educational and they still depict raptors like that? Ahh man I had a mini rant to myself about that.

I honestly don't think any classification is concrete I mean even for mammals we have egg laying ones. They're only there to for us to "organise" them.
And yes they don't change unfortunately... Super Mario Odyssey has a pretty dated T-rex, it's cool in all but they don't look like that in current discoveries. Tufts of feathers on raptor arms looks pointless, why have them at all if they just had them there. It's either none or all I suppose. (and all for accuracy)

Omg talk about shrink wrapping. I actually drew a featherless raptor once and based it off a featherless parrot with similar flesh and muscle structure, and it looked way more believable to be a actual animal than scaly shrinkwrapped lizards.

Raptor tufts are pretty disappointing too. We know for a fact that they had wings. They looked no different from birds. Except they had real teeth, long tails and bigger fingers with claws. Man do I wanna see a real dakotaraptor.

I got no idea why people think they look less fierce. If I saw a real dakotaraptor chasing me I'd be freaking the hell out. I'd freak the hell out if I got chased by an eagle. lol
You know I think it's just what people are used to see, that's all it is.

But yeah they were just like birds, and I love that. hehe Actually cassowaries even have a clear remnant of sickle claws.
