2-The pic MUST have high resolution.
3-No convention pics unless it has good quality and focus on the cosplayer contesting.
4-Only one person, no groups allowed.

After sending it to our e-mail only the best ones will be posted on facebook for the second part of the contest in which your friends and other people will help you out by liking and sharing your picture! We will judge the public's reaction to it (the comments), the amount of shares and likes and, of course, the most important part, the cosplayer. Don't miss this opportunity! Comment here if you have any questions. Send us the pic right now if you're sure you have one that fills all the requirements and wait for a reply

DEADLINES:
You have until June the 1st to join.
Part one of the contest is getting through the selection (if you follow all the rules you'll be selected so don't worry), part two is when we publish the pictures (we will e-mail you the details about it)

The entries will start being published on May the 20th

The final will be on June the 25th, in which we will select the most voted ones and our favourites to a 3rd and last phase.

Why do we count votes and our own judgement? Because some people deserve a chance but they're not so popular and they would never win if we only counted people's votes.
Why don't we only judge ourselves? Because we want to see how motivated each contestant is and how hard they try to win.

Remember to read everything again and very carefully. During this contest we will also check on the contestants' personalities and we will be checking their websites/pages/other to see all their work and not just the picture they've chosen to enter, this contest is different, we need to "stalk" our contestants a bit to make sure we don't let an arrogant asshole win ;D
The face of KWC has to be talented, of course, but also an example. No matter how good you are, if you're not nice with the people around you you can never win.

Don't worry if you are a newbie and you have very few cosplays, that doesn't matter as long as you're sure you're going to keep cosplaying for at least a year.

KWC: Introduce yourself, what's your name, age and what do you do?
LeonorGracias: Hello, my name is Leonor Grácias, I'm 24 years old (completed in March) and I am an English student, image editor and of course, cosplayer!

KWC: What is your favorite game/manga/anime/comic/movie?
LeonorGracias: I was fascinated by Trinity Blood from the start, I even like the anime, because it feels like all my favorite characters are alive, I love it to death. I also like CLAMP's classics and I love Kobato, I cry a lot with it. It's truly beautiful! But of course I am also in love with Macross Frontier.

KWC: What about favorite characters?
LeonorGracias: My favorite character of all times is clearly Sheryl Nome, even though it's only a character, I can relate a lot to her and to the mask she wears to not let herself be hurt by others. And also she is a DIVA!
I love Esther Blanchett because yeah, Thores...I think the drawings expresses the characters' "personality" better than reading or watching the manga/anime.

KWC: Have you gotten the chance to cosplay any of them?
LeonorGracias: I do around 20 cosplays a year, some are easier than others, I try to make a bigger one per year. Usually it's Sheryl Nome, characters from Trinity Blood, but I just started cosplaying from Comics and soon I will start a Game cosplay that I hope to finish in time for the convention, Anna Williams from Tekken.

KWC: Do you have some favourite cosplayers or a role model?
LeonorGracias: I do not have role models, but I really like to see how Yaya Han and Alodia live their lives as professional cosplayers.

KWC: Who's your favorite cosplay photographer? Anyone you'd love to be photographed by?
LeonorGracias: I do not have a favorite photographer, because every photographer gives me what I want, I already have the idea for the shooting and if I can make it happen, I will be happy.
Here in Portugal I am usually photographed by friends and it's easy to work with them (Manon Cosplay, FelixWorks, Mischa & Maru) but I would love to try and make a big photoshoot with DarkLight Cosplay and internationally I would love to be photographed by Diz*zy and of course Omaru!

KWC: When did you start cosplaying and which character was it? How did you get interested in cosplay?
LeonorGracias: I got interested in cosplay as soon as I knew what it was, I really wanted to make it. I had a huge passion for Sailor Moon and CardCaptor Sakura that aired on national TV and I was always a very creative kid and I really felt the need to explore that part of me, to be a chameleon, to see where is the limit I can achieve in changing my personality! I think it's a pretty good challenge.
My first real cosplay that I wore to a convention was Sakura Hime maid. The manga had just come out over here in french (and since I could read it I did so) and I was a huge fan, to fanatic levels even. So I decided to use that costume at the convention, but at the time there was no way for us to get wigs or anything, we just wanted to have fun!

KWC: What's your favorite cosplay so far?
LeonorGracias: I love my Trinity Blood cosplays, I have a HUGE passion for them. I also love making Sheryl, it really fills me up, but when it's about details and their actual making, I really just LOVE making everything Trinity Blood related!

KWC: Are you comfortable with the way you are right now or is there anything you would like to improve about yourself as a cosplayer?
LeonorGracias: I would like to not get so tired when I put on a cosplay. It feels like I don't have the endurance that I used to have, I get really tired after just a little while and it's a bit frustrating because I want to give it my best and I am tired!
But the thing I need to improve is the actual patience to improve my costumes from the INSIDE. Do all the costume finishings!

KWC: What is the hardest part when you are starting a new cosplay?
LeonorGracias: It's the fabric cutting, I "panic" because I am afraid of cutting it all wrong! It is horrible! The fabric just lays there for days without being cut because of it!
I love to buy all the things and find good deals! I love to decorate my costumes and give them my personal touch, but I still think the strong point on my cosplays is the photography part of it.

KWC: How do you manage your time to make your costumes?
LeonorGracias: I have a lot of free time, I’m lucky, so I really don't make a lot of time management because I start everything very early.

KWC: Is there any important lesson you have learned since you started cosplaying?
LeonorGracias: We all start from bellow.
We all are afraid, but one thing is certain, if we care to act our character well and if we have a good reaction from the public it is the best thing we can achieve!

KWC: What do your family and friends think about cosplay? Do they like it?
LeonorGracias: They always supported me. In the beginning I think they all thought it was just a phase? But they saw that I started to really invest on it and that I had something in return like travels, and of course going to Japan this year to represent Portugal on WCS. I think they finally understood that it's a hobby, even though amateurish, but taken with a lot of professionalism (at least by me) in Portugal!

KWC: What's your opinion on the cosplay community in your country?
LeonorGracias: They are like every community, we have dramas, bad situations, but in Portugal we are a community that gets to know everybody. It's a small country and the community is somewhat still on the small side. Drama comes and goes but it's easily solved. In my opinion I couldn't have asked for a better community to be at!

KWC: Do you have anything motivational or advice for the new cosplayers out there?
LeonorGracias: Never quit just because something goes wrong at first! We all started from bellow, we all made mistakes through the years, and we will always make them, but that's what fun is! To see our own evolution and others evolving around us!

KWC: Introduce yourself, what's your name, age and what do you do?
Avrasil: Hi! My name is Tomasz Niewiarowski, but you probably know me more as “Niew Photography”. Originated from Poland I moved to Sweden in my early youth and I am currently living in the country of vikings! Other than that, I am working as Webmaster and I love puns and logic!

KWC: What is your favorite game/manga/anime/comic/movie?
Avrasil: Tough one! Since I am a really structured person I have favourites in every category, but if I could pick one… it would be the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime.I really love the complexity of this anime and if I had not seen this anime, I would probably never be the same person as I am today. When it comes to my overall taste, I really like a bit more dark syfy / fantasy.

KWC: What about favorite characters?
Avrasil: Kamina from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann! Besides him, I’m mostly sticking to the “mastermind” kind of characters like: Orihara Izaya or Kyruuin Satsuki!

KWC: What's your dream photoshoot?
Avrasil: Don’t really have a certain dream photoshoots! What I’d really like to do more in the future though would be more themed photoshoots… rain, desert, cool location. Right now I’m mostly keeping it plain and simple!

KWC: Do you have some favourite photographers or a role model?
Avrasil: Yes! Not so many though. I really love Pugoffkas and Shiro Angs work with cosplay photography! They always bring me waves of inspiration!

KWC: Who's your favorite cosplayer? Anyone you'd love to photograph?
Avrasil: Don’t really have favourite cosplayers. There are of course those who never cease to amaze me with their costumes but if I had to pick any favourites, it would be cosplayers that I’ve learned to know and socialise with

Although, there are some cosplayers that I’d really like to have a photoshoot with.Calssara, Sara - Tousa Bao, Drefan Cosplay and Rei-Doll.

KWC: How did you get interested in cosplay photography?
Avrasil: In beginning of my con-going, I started photographing just to have memories to look at! After a while people started to ask me for cosplay photography and as I was a cosplayer myself - I knew what aspects of the costume they would love to have exposed.After that it developed into a serious hobby, I started to have photo shoots with more and more cosplayers that had bigger and cooler costumes… and well… here we are!

KWC: Why did you choose that artistic name?
Avrasil: Since “Avrasil” was my DeviantArt nickname from the beginning, i felt that it was associated to the cosplay too much to make it into my official photographer name. There is also this fine mainstream thing in sweden that all photographers are just “nicked” by their last name…a catchy option thatThe problem was that my last name is a bit too long to remember, so I had to come up with  would also feel like me! Therefore “Niew”. It is quite catchy, you can pun with it and it is strongly associated to me!“N(i)ew photoshoot” for example… *laughs*

KWC: What's your favorite photo taken by you so far?
Avrasil: Usually I’m getting attached to photographies from the latest photoshoots. Mostly because, with every photoshoot I’m trying to do something n(i)ew. So at the end of a successful edit, the set of the photographies is showing that I’ve developed more… So currently my favourite one would be:

KWC: Are you comfortable with the way you are right now or is there anything you would like to improve about yourself as a photographer?
Avrasil: I am a Virgo. There is always room for improvement. Sitting still and being satisfied with myself would probably mean that I cannot do anything more and that I am at the limit of my capabilities. There is always a higher mountain to climb - so to say!

The things that I’d like to improve would probably be faster editing, more traveling around the world and perhaps not beeing too much of a “no, she/he looks busy”. I’m really too careful sometimes and with that I’m missing opportunities to learn to know the cosplayer and perhaps deliver some really nice photos. Asking 1 question wouldn’t hurt I think


KWC: Do you shoot for free?
Avrasil: Yes! Doing it for the smiles, art and glory.

KWC: Is there any important lesson you have learned since you started cosplay photography?
Avrasil: Yes. I was a really shy person before. Photography and Cosplay has helped me to overcome that. Also, I discovered that hard work really pays off and that photography is a really good way to meet new people.

KWC: What's your opinion on the cosplay community in your country?
Avrasil: Sweden has been a rather closed off community. It is starting to develop into more international direction but it’s still a long way to go!
Cosplay photography isn’t really considered as such a big deal either, which I find really boring since around the world cosplay photography seems to be valued as high as cosplay itself! Simply put, (some) swedes are too focused on what happens here.

KWC: Do you think some cosplayers are abusive towards photographers? Have you had any unpleasant episode with any cosplayer?
Avrasil: Yes, there are cases where cosplayers are really respectless and just take the photos or commenting: “oh, your camera is great”. It has never happened to me as lucky as I am! Others aren’t so lucky. Credit isn’t something people know so much of sometimes… yet again, when I’m traveling to other countries such problems don’t seem to exist. People are really respectful and grateful for the photos which makes quite strong contrast of how it is here (sometimes).

KWC: Do you have anything motivational or advice for the new cosplay photographers out there?
Avrasil: Don't be afraid to ask cosplayers for more private shoot. You don't always need the biggest and the best camera! It's all about your own creativity and what you can accomplish with the tools that are within your range! Also, don't be afraid of failure and remember to fight for your rights if someone uses your photography without using credit!

KWC: How did you get interested in cosplay photography?
Zakane: I started as a cosplayer myself and love to attend events with a group of fellow cosplayers. Most of the time I would volunteer to take photos during the events. I got the interest in shooting, bought a new compact camera and started asking my group mates for private shoots. Soon after, I start to get shoot request and became more active in doing photoshoots. I got interested in flash photography and upgraded to a DSLR about half a year ago. From then, I started to cosplay less and focus more on cosplay photography instead.

Zakane: As mentioned previously, I love to do dark theme type of shoots. I was very glad to get a shoot request for this character. I enjoyed the whole process of planning and the shoot itself, and was very satisfied with the result.

KWC: Are you comfortable with the way you are right now or is there anything you would like to improve about yourself as a photographer?
Zakane: I am quite comfortable with the current way of how I do shoots, but I have always been trying improve myself, especially in using flash for indoor and night shoots.

KWC: Is there any important lesson you have learned since you started cosplay photography?
Zakane: I learned the importance of communication. It is very important to be able to properly explain the scenes that I would like to portray to the cosplayers. If they do not completely understand the concept that I am trying to do, it would take a long time to get the right feel for the shot.

KWC: What's your opinion on the cosplay community in your country?
Zakane: I can see that the cosplay community is growing rapidly in recent years and help is more easily available for newer cosplayers. The standard of cosplayers in Singapore have been improving too.

Zakane: Having low end gears does not mean that you can only produce low quality photos. Do not let your equipment limit you. There is always something new out there that you can try with what you have.

KWC: Are you comfortable with the way you are right now or is there anything you would like to improve about yourself as a cosplayer?
dat-baka: Honestly I would love to learn more about sewing, I am still very veeery new to sewing :'D //scared of the needles

KWC: What is the hardest part when you are starting a new cosplay?
dat-baka: Makeup was a very challenging thing for me when beginning, I used a permanent marker when I was young and naive XD

KWC: How do you manage your time to make your costumes?
dat-baka: Not very well to be honest, Always leaving it last couple of days (do not try this at home)

KWC: Is there any important lesson you have learned since you started cosplaying?
dat-baka: I've learnt that what others think does not matter, as long as you are having fun and with your friends or meeting new people, as long as you are happy you shouldn't care about negativity from people.

KWC: What do your family and friends think about cosplay? Do they like it?
dat-baka: I don't have much of a family but my little brother wants to get into cosplay when hes grown a little bit more, as for friends I have friends that think its cool and some friends that (in their words) think "I look like a lesbian" xD

KWC: What's your opinion on the cosplay community in your country?
dat-baka: Very welcoming & very helping, a little bit of drama but hey,
where there is a big group of people there will always be drama.

KWC: Do you have anything motivational or advice for the new cosplayers out there?
dat-baka: As Nike says "Just do it" ///lame
